Photographer’s Note

Beaune is a commune in eastern France, a sub-prefecture of the Côte-d'Or department in the Bourgogne region. The area around Beaune, the Côte de Beaune, is known for its Burgundy wines, with Beaune (although lacking a Grand Cru vineyard within the commune) as the hub of the local wine business. Beaune is renown for its annual charity wine auction on behalf of the Hospices de Beaune.
It is situated on the route des Grands Crus tourist route among the vineyards. The road runs north from Beaune to Gevrey Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges and south to Nolay, Saisy and Autun.

A splendid Hotel de Ville captured under a very nice Burgundian sky. The image has a pleasing symmetry and some interesting light and shadow contrasts. Good colours and clarity.

Hi Asa,

The lenght of the foreground and the garden is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the city hall. It is clear and precise. The nice sky is sending a light which is bringing the colors. Have a nice day.

A beautiful building. Burgundy is a part of France that really emanates wealth! You can easily connect this fact to the price level of their wines. But a very good picture!

though taken in the worst possible moment when the strong sunlight surpresses the colours (fate of tourists: we can not wait until the optimal light conditions arrive) the composition, in harmony with the severe symmetry of the architecture, is convincing.

I have seen several image of French Town Halls recently and they are all magnificent buildings. This one is no exception with its huge courtyard and pretty gardens. The symmetrical view works very well and the repeating arches are a very attractive feature.

I like the subtle warm cold color contrasts, between the faint pink facade of the building, & the blue sky. Good perspective control, with excellent lead in lines. Superb sharpness & framing. Have a nice weekend!
