Photographer’s Note
gibsy musician , photo taken during the gipsies festival in Saintes Marie-de-la-Mer.
Roms, Sinti and Gypsies come from across Europe and other continents to worship the Holy Sara Black. They settled at Saintes Maries de la Mer, in the streets, squares, at sea for eight to ten days, they are here at home. The pilgrimage is also a time of reunion and most children are baptized in the church of Saintes.
the statue of Sara is brought by the Gypsies to the sea to symbolize the waiting and reception of Saintes Maries by Sara, patron saint of the Gypsies. The procession then returned to the church in the joy of cheering, musical instruments and the carillon bells of the church.

A very nice portrait which catches the gypsy spirit. I like his smiling eyes. The backgorund with a wavy diagonal between black and light assists the composition very well and shows off the black felt hat.

Bonjour Didier,
Tu as reussi un bien beau portrait ici. Le N&B et le contraste font bien ressortir le visage ainsi que le tambourin. Mais c est surtout la spontaneité du visage qui fait le plaisir de regarder cette photo.

Your portraits are always very surprising. Not straight forward, but always a nice twist inside. Good sharpness on his face, a nice smile and most of all a very good b&w conversion...very nice, i like this one a lot.

Salut Didier,
Quel portrait!
Tu as merveilleusement saisi l'expression. Je ne sais pas ce qu'il regarde, est-ce un autre musicien faisant un solo, mais il semble à la fois admiratif et amusé.
La qualité de ton N/B est vraiment excellente.
Bravo!
Très bon dimanche
