Roms, Sinti and Gypsies come from across Europe and other continents to worship the Holy Sara Black. They settled at Saintes Maries de la Mer, in the streets, squares, at sea for eight to ten days, they are here at home. The pilgrimage is also a time of reunion and most children are baptized in the church of Saintes.
the statue of Sara is brought by the Gypsies to the sea to symbolize the waiting and reception of Saintes Maries by Sara, patron saint of the Gypsies. The procession then returned to the church in the joy of cheering, musical instruments and the carillon bells of the church.
