Photographer’s Note
Hello dears,
Today a shot from Paris and one of the most famous places in the world - Louvre. Hope you like it!
Cheers!
---------------------------------------------------
The Musée du Louvre or officially the Grand Louvre — in English, the Louvre Museum or Great Louvre, or more simply the Louvre — is a historic monument in Paris and the national museum of France. It is a central landmark of the city, located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the 1st arrondissement (neighbourhood). It's the most visited museum in the world and arguably the most famous one. Nearly 35,000 objects from the 6th millennium BC to the 19th century AD are exhibited over an area of 60,600 square metres (652,300 square feet).
The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace (Palais du Louvre) which began as a fortress built in the late 12th century under Philip II. Remnants of the fortress are still visible. The building was extended many times to form the present Louvre Palace. In 1672, Louis XIV chose the Palace of Versailles for his household, leaving the Louvre primarily as a place to display the royal collection, including, from 1692, a collection of antique sculpture.[3] In 1692, the building was occupied by the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres and the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, which in 1699 held the first of a series of salons. The Académie remained at the Louvre for 100 years. During the French Revolution, the National Assembly decreed that the Louvre should be used as a museum, to display the nation's masterpieces.
The museum opened on 10 August 1793 with an exhibition of 537 paintings, the majority of the works being confiscated church and royal property. Because of structural problems with the building, the museum was closed in 1796 until 1801. The size of the collection increased under Napoleon when the museum was renamed the Musée Napoléon. After his defeat at Waterloo, many works seized by Napoleon's armies were returned to their original owners. The collection was further increased during the reigns of Louis XVIII and Charles X, and during the Second Empire the museum gained 20,000 pieces. Holdings have grown steadily through donations and gifts since the Third Republic, except during the two World Wars. As of 2008, the collection is divided among eight curatorial departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities; Islamic Art; Sculpture; Decorative Arts; Paintings; and Prints and Drawings.

Hey Mik,
It must be a good picture since I have a very similar one in my gallery ;-) ! But it's in horizontal format and black and white. I guess the same things attracted your eyes: lines, perspective and reflection...good job ! The colors seem a bit weird though....from over saturation?

Hi Mik!
The Louvre has been photographed hundreds and hundreds of times and it really deserves that! However, it's never too much seeing excellent pictures taken there and this is the case! The vertical format, the original pov and the smartly and ably done composition are the greatest highlights here! Colors, sharpness, dof and exposure are also outstanding features that really please me! I specially enjoyed the reflection on the pyramid and the graphical shape of the artificial "lake" and the texture on the water surface!
TFS - congratulations!
Best regards,
Neyvan

The eye is taken away by the perspective and pleased by the soft colours of gold and the sky.
The two kinds of reflections – water and glass – make a surrealistic effect together.
Just fantastic,
thank you for sharing.

the sky lacks some gamma and is a bit dull
in fact, i think you used something like a highlight and shadow filter
i wish the sky was brighter and more brilliant
about the composition, a good version of a classic subject

Ciao dear Mikeo,
the building is marvelous, but what that is more beautiful in this image it's the way to which has been composed, playing with the Baroque and modern forms and with the reflexes. A photo done very well, really compliments!
Ciao, have a nice week!

hi Mik,
fine light and colours for this POV of the Louvre's main square. I like the angle of view that you have chosen and the way you have composed your picture.
And good reflection of the building in the pyramid's glass.

Hello Mik,
An unusual view of the Louvre.
Superb image of the golden glints of light where ancient and modern Paris meet.
A beautiful view of the drainpipe which directs the eye toward the Louvre under the aquatic bottom.

Hello,
Fantastyczne zdjecie, osobiscie bardzo lubie takie odbicia gdzie architektura z natura graja pierwsze skrzypce.
Odbicie slonecznego Palacu w nowoczesnym blasku szyb i odbicie Palacu w wodzie na dodatek ten blekit nieba. Faktycznie "wypasione" :-)

Hi friends,
A great idea in this framing. You have played with the reflections of the magnificent architecture of the Louvre on the Pyramid, creating two planes that converge on the nice perspective of its base.
A huge graphism, in a nice work.
