Photographer’s Note

October 18th, 2004
The Boeing 747-300 of the flight AF652 take-off from Paris Orly at 13h30. It lands at Lamentin airport (Fort de France) at 16h30, after a flight of 8 hours. It's a daily flight. So each day between 16h and 16h30 I was locking it.
I was on the small beach that you can see on the right, in the picture posted yesterday , when I have taken it. Our flight was quite in the same position that this AF652 that I have shot 2 days later.

Nice shot, and great positioning of the plane in the picture.

I find the border a bit ugly however.

Très beau cadrage Jacques, l'avion est très clair et en évidence dans ce ciel magnifique. J'ai eu la chance également de voir des avions atterrir depuis une plage à quelques pieds de la piste, à St-Martin, malheureusement je n'ai pas vu de 747 ! Merci pour ce partage, excellent composition.

Perfect...the way the plane is set against the clouds...but the border colour is a bit disturbing.

Beautiful, Jacques, what else can I say? Already the sky is nicely captured, dividing the image in one blue and one white part along the diagonal. Your positioning of the B747 in the upper right third is ideal, with a very good use of negative space. And it looks so smooth and clean against the white fluffy cloud (also well done!) - it's almost looking like a plastic toy aircraft - wonderful! Only an enthusiast is sitting with his camera ready day after day for something like this - but it certainly paid off. Very well done! I won't comment on the frame, as I've read your answers already... ;o)

Une image qui sort de l'ordinaire et qui nous change des paysages et portraits de TE. L'avion est d'une netteté remarquable et ce gros nuage en arrière plan donne toue la profondeur à l'image. J'aime beaucoup!

Very beautiful shot. It captures such a lightness. The big, fluffy cloud cuts across this image powerfully. It sort of gives a bit of homage to a golden age of aviation when flying was new and exciting and not cramped and stuffy. The plane really is soaring into the sky dwarfed by the giant cloud but soaring to it. It's very well composed with the diagonal and the placement of the plane. ANd the colors and clarity really give the final touch. I can imagine this in a sepia version, also, giving it that golden glow. Very well captured.

Clin d'oeil sympa avec la 1ère vue de l'avion et maintenant celle de la plage! On aimerait bien s'echapper du temps maussade pour aller vers des lieux plus ensoleillés comme la martinique!

Très jolie capture!! Le triangle de ciel dans le coin supérieur gauche et l'avion excentré sur la droite donne une très belle composition. La "simplicité" (pas péjoratif!!) du cliché participe à sa beauté. J'adhère!! Bien vu Jacques,
