Gourdon situated some 13 kms (8 miles) northeast of Grasse and 40 kms (25 miles) from Nice – "somewhere between Provence and Côte d'Azur" – at an altitude of 760 meters (2500 feet) above the sea. These are the southernmost parts of the Alps, known as Alpes Maritimes – the Alps of the Sea.

This is a look down to Le Nid d'Aigle [Eagle's Nest], one of the very charming restaurants in this charming village. Situated on the edge of a rocky spur that juts out about 500m (1640ft) directly above the Loup river, where the Gorges du Loup comes out at the Pont-du-Loup village – seen near the lower right edge of the image.

Sitting on the terrace you have a magnificent view of some 80 kms (50 miles) of Riviera coastline. From Cape Ferrat and Nice in the east to the massif of l'Estérel in the west and on the horizon the sea is blending with the sky.

Gourdon was more harmonious and less crowded than Saint-Paul!

bon jour Kaj- hehe I don't speak french just so you know, anywyas
I think this interesting perpestive and the composition is good and the leaves help frame the shot nicely and I might have burned in areas of the umbrella and the roof top, they look a little hot this is a minor reallly just being honest and I also think that valley near the bottom right of the frame is good to see how high up you are.
p.s.
I will posting more carrier shot next week I been film scanning a lot so I can just whip them out everyday.

Great POV, Kaj. I like the depth of the shot and the way you captured the person standing at the balcony, as looking down. Nicely framed with the vegetation along the left side and bottom of the photo. It's a pity the 'shop' and the curved steps up to it are so shaded - but I am sure they like it. Well seen.

YOu certainly captured the lines nicely here. The stairs and trees curve around perfectly connecting to the lower terrace and then on down the mountain to the buildings far below. The colors are very nice. It's just the white that is overexposed. But that's a difficult thing to control, probably, with its high reflectivity in sunny weather. The people at various levels also adds another great connection. Those talking at the top left corner at the top o the stairs. Then the one looking out from her balcony down onto the person under the umbrella. It links together in many ways. Well seen and photographed at the right moment.

The perspective and the play of lines and shapes not only gives a pleasing graphical quality to this one, but also does a fine job of conveying height. The stone and brick textures of the restaurant make a surprisingly good ensemble with the surrounding greenery. A bit bright in the highlights. Very nice one, Kaj.

Impressive point of view Kaj, the view from the restaurant down to the valley must be awsome. Beautiful mixt of nature and architecture, well framed, thanks for sharing.

Bonjour Kaj
Belle image, domage pour les parasols et le toit qui sont brulés.
Pour éviter cela il aurait fallu essayer de prendre la photo à un autre moment de la journée(matin ou soir).
Amicalement
Georgy
