Photographer’s Note

The tower of Bellegarde. It is the site which is at the origin of the name of the village "Beautiful-Guard" (6100 inhabitants with 18km of Nimes and Arles.
Mentioned for the first time under the name of "Castrum Bellae-Gardae" in 1208 at the time of the Albigensian crusade, this rectangular keep is typical the Middle Ages. Ideal place as regards monitoring, this tower dominates the village and all the plain. It was integrated in a strengthened unit much vaster which played a dissuasive role and of prestige. As for the virgin (Our Lady of Bellegarde) installed on the top of the Tower, it goes back only to 1875 at the time of the dedication of the current church. It has been for this time that the site of the castle is named by Bellegardais "the Madonna". From time immemorial, the tower was a crossing point of many visitors. Some, as pupils companions of the duties left traces there, So one can admire, on the face Is monument, many graffitis which for the majority is dated. Prestigious framework of the festival of guitar which is held each year at the beginning of July, the site saw being born, in 2006, of new installations such as a stone amphitheatre. The site is today the framework of action of a communal building site of insertion which arranges two small pedestrian paths which could be associated the course of excursion of discovered soil. The first path in historical matter brings to discovered site of the tower. The second with character ethno-botany will present the various gasolines of trees and plants used by our ancestors and forgotten today.

Superbe heure bleue aux couleurs splendides. Les nuages, certainement poussés par le vent, donnent un aspect très particulier mais très beau au ciel devant lequel cette tour se détache magnifiquement. Une très belle réalisation et une belle note.

Wonderful evening shot of the illuminated tower. The different colour of the light on the Madonna makes it stand out against the sky. Not a traditional blue hour shot because of the clouds but the remaining natural light in the sky makes a wonderful background.

Je suis resté un mois à Remoulins dans une maison qu'on me prête, c'est un bon point de départ central près de tout, la Camargue, les Alpilles, l'Ardèche, la région d'Avignon, c'est très pratique.

je découvre cette tour a travers ta photo, le mouvement des nuages donne un coté surnaturel , comme si un violent orage se préparait, sur un tel fond, la tour ne peut que ressortir de la meilleure façon,

Tiens il y a aussi un Bellegarde dans le Loiret! L'éclairage de cette tour est parfaitement rendu et contraste bien avec le mauve du ciel, bien réalisé.

C'est un vrai livre ouvert cette tour d'après ta note et elle doit être vue d'assez loin compte tenu de sa situation dominante. Une belle photo de ce monument du passé sur cette agréable heure bleue. J'aime beaucoup le mouvement de ce ciel qui crée un relief bien sympa. Bravo Gilbert.

Bonjour Gilbert, another superb blue-hour capture. That sky is amazing and I thought the exposure would be longer than 1s because the clouds seem to be moving fast around the tower. Great contrasts and dramatic mood with the statue isolated high above on the wall.

Pas facile cette lumière avec la statue qui est éclairée plus fort que le reste.
C'est un peu cela le plus du D700, il permet plus d'écarts ;o)
De plus, on y gagne en grand angle ce que l'on perd en télé.
Comme j'ai le D300 et le D700, ils font la paire :o))

A fantastic combination of blue and orange from the illumionated building. The position off centre renders a beautiful fcardrage of the surrounding area at the blue hour and the dtails are sharp permitting a pleasant view.
