Photographer’s Note
I have been doing some archiving recently and I have decided to post some of my old photo's up starting with this one, a picture I took while on holiday in France in 2003
I had to do some PP to remove some coaches and cars I also adjusted levels and added some more saturation and a colour filter to the sky.
I have posted the original image as a workshop for any one who would like to see it.
UPDATE: I have posted a 'calmer' version of this image as a workshop it gets rid of the 'halo' and I hope appears more natural :)

Beautiful shot. The red horizon attracts the eye. It's a pity that it is not more visible. A more distant centring would have been preferable here to eliminate the slope at right and to set off these splendid sunset colors.

This is little unusual photo with this big contrasts, but I like it, IMHO.
It looks like castle from fary tales in all this atmosphere.
I like the efect of the dark line between the sky and the castle.
Ma choice of the sky would be blured. IMHO again:-)

Amazingly sharp shot, maybe a little too tightly framed though, but certainly a great view Stephen!
I especially enjoy the lighting and the play of pink & gray tones making the image warmer in difference with the colder light gray houses.
* Note: Tank you a lot for the quick change.

Walked around in this monastery-city. Inspite of the thousands of tourists, it is beautiful.
Your picture (without the coaches and cars, ha, ha) is great. A very strong picture, good composed and a lovely sky, Stephen !

A classical motive but you managed to get an extraordinary sky that makes it more dramatic than usual.

The huge orange-grey-pinkish sky makes a good background for this subject.
I've seen many photos of 'Le Mont-Saint-Michel', but this one is certainly different.
Very moody!

Wow, I am really impressed what you managed to achieve with your postprocessing! Thanks for also showing us the original image, that is very useful. The result is great, but I think the light halo around the hill is a bit too much. It almost looks as if you have combined two different pictures (one picture of the Mt Saint Michel and another of the sky).

Wow, you really brought out a lot in this shot with the post processing. It really stands out as an impressive view. I like your point of view here. It slowly rises from the foreground with the near slope moving upward. And you really focus on the mount by not having too much sky. Perhaps the one without the halo is a bit more natural looking. I really do like the way you have lit up the buildings to really emphasize them in this version, though. Very good work all around. Especially in resurrecting this photograph.

Excelent view of the Mont St-Michel!
The lighting of the sky contribute is awesome. It adds a lot to the composition, creating a very good background complement to a classic point of view.

Excellent and the choice of this range of colors is a very good idea for the special site

Been out for a while, so I'm just picking out one for the moment. A friend told me that Mont Saint-Michel is the most photographed place in France; if it is really true I don't know, but one this is for sure: it is a superb photogenic place. You captured and postprocessed it very good. The contrast between the grayish foreground and the colourful sky really gives the image a good mood. Very well done!!!

Offering the original photo proved too much of a temptation to resist, so you'll have another workshop to add to your collection... ;-)
I like what you've done with this darkened image, though the glow around the Mont is a bit of a distraction. There are ways to work with that, but they are a bit labor intensive. For the version I did, I stayed closer to the palette of the original image. See what you think Stephen. I hope you share more images from your archives. As winter comes on the opportunities for capturing new images diminishes, especially where we have sodden skies.
