Photographer’s Note

I have posted several pictures of the citadel of Corté
It was built by Vincentellu d'Istria in 1419.
eagle nest is composed of a single wall of 2.50 m high. At 111 m above the confluence Tavignanu-Restonica, Corté Castle is the oldest building of the stronghold. It occupies an oval platform 60m long and 25 wide.
The citadel was occupied by the French army after the defeat of Ponte-Novu of 8 May 1769, new fortifications are decided. On 25 June 1769, the Comte de Vaux entrust the work to the Commander of the Corps of Engineers of AUMONT. We destroyed the old district to enlarge Castellacci citadel. Built according to the characteristics of the bastions, the citadel is entirely surrounded by steep 8 to 14 m high. Trapezoidal in shape, it impresses first dimensions: 270 m long and the western front (side Tavignanu), 166 m from the north side and 290 m to the east side. The south side is occupied by the castle.
The project included a citadel on a 20 hectares of Vauban. The city would have been radically altered, the project was abandoned in 1789 in the French Revolution.
Currently, the walls of old castles are being restored. In WS, a close
