Photographer's Note
A view of the wine cellars and distillery in the village of Saint-Sorlin-De Conac.
Saint-Sorlin-de-Conac is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in the Poitou-Charentes region in western France. Its name is thought to be a corruption of Saint-Saturnin.
It is a small picturesque village set amongst the marshes of the Gironde Estuary with a falling population, recorded as 199 in 2006. In the 19th century it had a thriving port of the Gironde (port de Cosnac) with many coastal steamers plying their trade along the river. Nowadays, the local economy is dependent on agriculture and the production of cognac and Pineau des Charentes, a local highly recommended aperitif.
For those who are interested here's a link to an article on the French Wikipedea site about the history and production of Pineau des Charentes.

Hi Stephen,
A fine street scene where the tree to the right plays an essential part in the composition. The street provides good lead in lines and the perspective is also very good!
Kind regards

Good morning Stephen!
Here you have caught a wonderful scenery in a really gorgeous - but difficult - light. It helps in an amazing way to create depth here - nearly 3D. Thank for for the interesting note and the link!
Greetings from humid, grey and cool Germany!

Bonjour Stephen,
Cordialement

Hello Stephen,
You have used the curve of the road to lead nicely into the shot, with the arch of the tree and the line of the buildings, completing it.
The light is glorious, creating contrasting areas of soft shadow and bright sunlight.
Good dof to maintain the sightseers' interest.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

I like the effect of the winter light on the scene; it is very gentle and the shadows are not too harsh. You have composed the image well using the curve of the road as lead-in and the branches of the tree to fill in the sky.

Hi Stephen, I like how the tree on the right frames the photo and the curve of the road leads the eye away to the right. It was a shame about the scaffolding on the left, but very difficult to capture the curve of the road without it. Lovely sharp image and beautiful muted colours. Great job, Lisa.

Hi Stephen
I like the sweeping curve of the road, off to the right. It adds superb lead in lines, & linear perspective. Good sharpness, & the tree at right frames the scene well. Tfs! Bon Dimanche!
