A series of pictures taken on a drizzly day during a visit to the Lapidiales artists' residency in the French commune of Port-d'Envaux in the département of Charente-Maritime.
Some information about Les Lapdiales freely extracted from the French website Culturebox:
For twelve years, the Lapidiales site has offered a residence out of the ordinary to contemporary sculptors of all nationalities. Artists are busy building gigantic and fantastic stone sculptures with a view to giving future generations a work in perpetual creation.
The person behind the project is Alain Tenenbaum. Actor, director, designer and sculptor himself, he spends his life in shaping his feelings. Each sculpture represents the culture, history, the sensitivity of the artist. These stay in residence on the site for a period of time developing a theme from the four elements: water, earth, air and fire, thus giving meaning and coherence to the creation of the site as a whole.
Les Lapidiales is set in a former limestone quarry open to the elements. Visitors are welcome at any time and there is no charge for entry.

Bonjour, cher Stephen,
Un site original où les talents de sculpteur peuvent s'exprimer librement.
Du talent, il y en a, il suffit de les trouver.
Très bon sujet.

Hi Stephen - A super follow-up to your last post. Here we see the sculptor in action and can examine the details of his work. You have managed to frame and expose the shot really well and each little nuance of the work is finely captured (some quite mind-boggling too) Fascinating! Warm regards Rosemary

Maintenant je comprends pourquoi je ne connaissais pas cet endroit. C'est tout neuf et les artistes sont encore à l'oeuvre dans cette tentative d'améliorer le paysage. C'est tout de même spectaculaire.

a fascinating shot this. The work itself is amazing and to see the sculptor at work all the more intriguing and wonderful. Despite the drizzle the light here is perfectly bright and your execution superb, with immaculate detail.

Hi Stephan, We often see the street painters on work or musicians but very rarely the sculptors. Amazing artwork. It must be very hard job to do these sculptures in the rock. Interesting note about this unusual place.

Good capture of the artist putting the finishing touches to this wonderful outdoor series of sculptures with excellent sharpness and graphism. The minimalist color makes the dark blue attire of the kneeling artisan stand out even more. Tfs!

I can see in a thousand years when our records are reduced to dust, that people will stand in this place and see all kinds of interpretations as to the meanings of these fine carvings, again I love the idea of this place. It raises the question for those sites around the world that are ancient to us now, was it perhaps just a wel thought out community project? haha, probably not, but a nice thought.

an interesting project and I like the note. Well captured with some interesting pieces, despite the rain.

Ciao e buona giornata

Sculpturer at work, now looks as meditating about his next move...
Great how you included him alongside with his unfinished worl.
Fine details shown, WB well set on camera, the big rock is an amazing location for the craftsman.
Good evening, Stephen.

this is a fine presentation of the sculptures and a very intriguing composition the way you have included a real person close to them. I wonder if he is studying or working on them. It's great that you have isolated this scene from any other context, this kind of framing makes the figures and the interaction among them more vivid and interesting. There's superb rendering of textures and mild colours. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
