A series of pictures taken on a drizzly day during a visit to the Lapidiales artists' residency in the French commune of Port-d'Envaux in the département of Charente-Maritime.
Some information about Les Lapdiales freely extracted from the French website Culturebox:
For twelve years, the Lapidiales site has offered a residence out of the ordinary to contemporary sculptors of all nationalities. Artists are busy building gigantic and fantastic stone sculptures with a view to giving future generations a work in perpetual creation.
The person behind the project is Alain Tenenbaum. Actor, director, designer and sculptor himself, he spends his life in shaping his feelings. Each sculpture represents the culture, history, the sensitivity of the artist. These stay in residence on the site for a period of time developing a theme from the four elements: water, earth, air and fire, thus giving meaning and coherence to the creation of the site as a whole.
Les Lapidiales is set in a former limestone quarry open to the elements. Visitors are welcome at any time and there is no charge for entry.

wow! What a frame! Great colourful atmosphere. Great artwork at left of the frame. Nicely composed picture. Sharpness and clarity are superb. Great depth too. A very good one indeed. Tfs.

A fascinating place Stephen and a good overview of the types of work one may see here. A place well worth visiting. The setting is gorgeous with the greenery making a lovely natural backdrop to the works of art. Even in the dull light you have managed to capture a good shot with excellent detail. Warm regards Rosemary

a very interesting mini series from this artists work.
I'm certainly not going to try to interpret the work, as there's no way i'm qualified to do so! :)
All I know is I like the photo and the subjects you present to us, and you have seemed to catch the rain again :)
good angle on this one, its almost like a wrap-around-photo. well done

Fascinating note, and image to compliment it. I have only through photography learned an appreciation for sculpture, and its something that has grown to the point that I will stop and study new ones that I find around the areas I am in, and this looks like a place where one could spend many long hours examining each creation. I love the idea behind this place and the people here in the shot give excellent scale. Great post, cheers
All the best

This outdoor art gallery with its many sculptures reminds me a little of the one in Nong Khai Thailand. Sala Kiuow? I forget the name but have uploaded a shot or 2 to TE. The people in their brightly attired wet weather gear add life and scale to te overcast rainy day. Tfs!

the drizzly weather was no obstacle and your photo is a great introduction to this lovely and interesting place. I like very much the downward point of view and the way perspectives and interest are arranged in the frame. There's fine depth and clarity, an attractive alternation of textures and colours. The people stand out intriguingly with their motion and colours, they give a useful sense of scale, too. You've rendered delightful colours in spite of the subdued lighting. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great Sunday,
