A collegiate church is a church served and administered by a college of canons or prebendaries, presided over by a dean or provost. In its governing a collegiate church is similar to a cathedral, although a collegiate church is not the seat of a bishop. Collegiate churches were often supported by (sometimes extensive) lands held by the church

One is unaware of the exact origin of this religious establishment, mentioned for the first time in 924 in the cartulaire of Redon. The building is rebuilt Romance in second half of XIe century, and is devoted in 1086 by the future pope Urbain II.

Caractèristique of the Romanesque architecture poitevine, the frontage presents three stages:
With the first a central gate in semicircular arch and two side gates in gothic arches are.
With the second two galleries of arcades recoivent statues of saints on both sides of a central bay.
With the third one sees a pediment decorated in his center with a mandorle.
The entirely carved frontage is a chief of famous Romance work of art in the whole world.

At the interior,
fresco of origin remain around the chorus and in a crypt, but the church received in 1851 a painted decoration.

At the interior also, in the Sainte-Anne vault, known as "of Insane", is a setting in tomb carved out of polychrome stone, of XVIe century. Christ is deposited in a sarcophagus by Joseph d'Arimathie and Nicodème, under the glance of the Virgin, supported by saint Jean, and two holy women

Bonjour Joël

Joli travail pour nous présenter cette église à l'architecture assez particulière. Le temps pluvieux lui donne une allure intéressante, je trouve.
J'aime beaucoup également ton image complémentaire, la mise au tombeau.

une encore bien belle photo de cette église. Le ciel gris la met bien en valeur. J'y suis passé mais je n'avais pas trouver un aussi bel angle de prise. Bravo.

l'église est superbe,photographiée avec sous un très bon POV,mais que dire des couleurs???Je ne sais pas,d'habitude le temps pluvieux est gris et moche,et là, c'est magnifique!Aurais-tu,toi aussi,inventé une nouvelle règle photographique?En voyant une telle harmonie dans les couleurs,je me dis que cette église aurait été moins bien sous le soleil!Et la multitude de petirs détails ressort parfaitement!Vraiment superbe!

Bonjour Joël,
Cette église a une très belle façade pleine d'art et quelques jolies tours. Malgré lequel le jour pluvieux t'a accompagné, tu as obtenu une très bonne lumière.
Un cadrage excellent en faisant la diagonale qui permet de voir le côté de ses bons détails.
Grand POV.

wonderful capture even in that bad weather. Wonderful POV having so many details from the architecture and the fine textures of walls and pavement. Both workshops are a worthy addition, the tomb scene could be a posting itself.

Tu me donnes vraiment envie de retourner dans la région visiter ces églises. Une petit merveille de l'art Roman, cette façade est vraiment superbe!!
Du très beau boulot pour tout faire rentrer dans le cadre.
Un note complète, des ws très intéressant dont cette mise au tombeau qui par sa lumière aurait pu faire l'objet d'un post à part entière.

Je vois qu'en France aussi le temps n'est pas au mieux! Mais tu as tire un bon parti de la lumière et les nuages sont bien rendus et accentuent l'ambiance.... Détails bien nets, superbe POV englobant tout l'édifice... pas de distorsion...

Elle est vraiment très soignée cette composition et je trouve que cela est paramétré de façon excellente.L'exposition est juste,la netteté est présente et finalement ce ciel habille très bien l'image.De l'excellent job.

altro grande e bellissimo edificio , mi piace molto l'architettura della chiesa , anche se la giornata non era delle migliori per fare foto , mi sembra ben riuscita , ottima luce diffusa e buona nitidezza .

What a great presentation on this one, the ws are great and I especially like the one of the sarcophagus. The church itself is a grand small cathedral and thanks to you I now know the difference. Colors and details in all the shots are really fine, great captures.

Hello Joel.
A very good architectural presentation despite the miserable looking weather. You have captured a certain luminosity in the rainy sky and excellent sharpness of details in the building. It is a magnificent church, and Poitiers is one place I have on my list of towns to visit in France. I like the Poitou-Charentes region.
