Photographer’s Note

Saint Peter's church, Echebrune, dates from the 12th century though it bears evidence of restoration work carried out in the 15th century. The west façade depicted in this photograph is a fine example of Saintonge Romanesque style.

Echebrune is a small village with a population of around 460. Located in the ancient Saintonge area, it stands in the middle of the "Petite Champagne" vineyards that are a source of grapes that go into the production of cognac.

The picture was taken from some steps below the church which were in total shade. I had to do quite a bit of work in Photoshop to recover the detail in the bottom third of the image. Just hope I didn't go to far in this. Let me know what you think.
