Chauvigny is a commune lying in the central area of western France. It is located in the department of Vienne, in the of region Poitou-Charentes. Its inhabitants, of which there were 6754 at the 2010 census, are called Chauvinois.
Chauvigny owes much of its fame to its important medieval heritage. The town is divided into two distinct parts: the upper part, which consists of the medieval city and historical centre; beneath this sits the more recently developed lower town and commercial district..
The historical centre is perched on a rocky promontory commanding the valleys of Vienna and Talbat. It boasts no less than five castles within a fortified complex, a rarity in Europe. At the heart of the historical centre is the church of Saint-Pierre (Saint Peter), which dates from the 12th century. It features sculptures of the Poitiers school, and an unusual painted interior.
The church of Notre-Dame in the lower town dates from the 11th century though it was extensively restored in the 19th century. It became the parish church in 1823 following a municipal decision. The lower town also contains the Town Hall, which was built at the end of the 19th century on the ruins of the old church of Saint-Léger.

Un bel angle de rue avec ce bel atelier envahie par le lierre. Excellent POV, bravo!

who can resist a Medieval town?!
I know I can't.
and we certainly dont' have any here in Canada!
although this building here does look a little bit more 'modern', but is that a castle in the bg on the left?
the greenery seems to be taking control over the house, a bit of trimming is needed I think :)
lovely shot though, a nice place to walk or drive through.
enjoy your day

this little place looks wonderful. You have chosen the perfect POV to give us a real sense of its setting and also the wonderful narrow and enticing streets of this old city. Excellent clarity and beautifully captivating.
Have a great week - Brian.

J'aime bien le point de vue sur la galerie de l'artiste, à l'abri du mur de pierres du château. Un bel endroit pour recevoir les touristes de passage.

A very quaint little building, and looking closely at it, one that seems bursting with color! As its positioned both in life, and in your composition by these other big tall buildings, it looks quite cute, like a little artistic refuge. Nicely shot!

Excellent shot ! The house with creepers covering most of the walls on either side is such a pleasing sight to behold. The white framework of door and windows, contrasted with the crimson windows add to the beauty. The abundance of greenery and its spread across the width of the photograph makes this such a beautiful capture. Strong shades of grey and white covers the rest of the photograph. The road that winds its way along the right of the photograph gives the viewer a sense of perspective. It is surely a very nice place to stay in.
Thanks for sharing, Stephen.

the vegetation that clambers over the building gives it a lovely natural frame and I do like the glimpse of the town along the narrow alley.
The colours are most pleasing and clarity first rate.

Excelent point you had chosen to stand when taken this picture, Stephen, from a spot that there was a view through the old narrow street - till far as can be seen.
The shop is a nice corner on the scene and the old wall backdrop's left some mystery to the beholder's eyes. Good light management and fine clarity.

This is a dear little house Stephen, the facade with the attractive windows and flourishing green creeper is naturally interesting and with the addition of the narrow lane and imposing high wall behind the house you present a charming corner of the town. Warm regards Rosemary

I like very much the composition with which you are describing this elegant and quiet corner of a picturesque french town. The artist's workshop has a very attractive character, you've captured the details on it excellently. It's great that you've placed it in a well laid out context reinforcing its charm. There's fine perspective and depth. The mild, moody light creates a romantic atmosphere. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,
