One sight.
Other sight.

In the local typical light, the estuary of the coastal river Sèvre Niortaise, which is thrown in bay of l'Aiguillon, and the boats of the producers of blue mussels, the mytiliculteurs.

Sévre Niortaise river is a coastal river of 158 km course, which takes its source close to Sepvret in Deux-Sèvres, crosses Niort, then goes down in the marsh from Poitou which it feeds, before throwing in the Atlantic Ocean in Aiguillon bay. Sèvre Niortaise river and Sèvre Nantaise river, gave their name to the department of Deux-Sèvres.

The sea occupied there is 8000 years all the golf of Pictons.
The Marais Poitevin, Marsh From Poitou, old Gulf of Poitou, gulf of Pictons, extends on the plains from the Vendée in north, the plain of Niort in Deux-Sèvres in the east and the plain of Aunis in Charente-Maritime in the south. The 95000 hectares of the Poitevin Marsh, were built by the marine currents and the alluvia brought by the rivers and rivers. Since the Neolithic era, the resources were exploited there. Salt, fishing, the breeding were developed there until the time Gallo Romaine. With the Middle Ages began from great work of draining and installation under the impulse of the abbeys, like benedictine abbey of Maillezais. They continued in particular under king Henri IV at the 17th century, and at the 19th century. It was necessary and it is still necessary, to contain the effects of the sea and to often evacuate surface waters of a marsh to the lower part of the open seas.
On the whole thousands of kilometers of channels of all sizes, drains, ditches, conches, were dug.

The marshes are divided into two, the desiccated marshes of 47,000 hectares, and wet the marshes known as Venice Verte of 29,000 hectares. 19000 hectares partially desiccated should be added.

Charron is a french commune, located in the department of the Charente-Maritime of the Poitou-Charentes area, populated of 1650 Charronnais, distributed on 36 km², that is to say 46 hab./km .

In Bank of bay of l'Aiguillon, in limit of of the districts of Charente-Maritime and of Vendée, Charron is part of the Park Inter Regional of Marsh of Poitou, "Marais Poitevin".

Charron has one of the best sunning of the Atlantic facade.
The sunning of the Charente and Vendean Atlantic littoral is the second of France, often compared to that of the Côte d'Azur.

It is the principal production centre of moulds of mussel beds of the area, on the estran of the Aiguillon. the mytiliculteurs use approximately 60 boats and produce 10.000 t/an.
The harbour "port du Pavé", is one of the most important center of forwarding of the mussel on mussel bed.
The breeding of the mussel of mussel beds is done on high piles of oak, the mussel beds, fixed in the zone of swinging of the tides which are discovered with low tide.
