Photographer’s Note

Described as one of "the prettiest villages in France" and awarded the "3 flower" label for its floral decoration, the village of Angles has a very rich cultural history. Man has lived on the banks of the Anglin since prehistoric times portrayed by the Magdalenian sculptures at Roc-aux-Sorciers - these are the most important 14,000 year old records in Europe. Discover the Medieval village streets whose names evoke time's past such as the: Englishmen's Trenches, The Hunting Horn, House of Cardinal La Ballue...). Visit the impressive ruins of the castle ( 10th.- 15th. centuries) which tower 50 metres above the Anglin Valley. See the Sainte Croix Chapel, the remains of an 11th C monastery and the lower village cemetery with its 14th C Easter cross.
