Photographer's Note

A detail of a hut on the Plage des Dames (Ladies beach) on Noirmoutier island in Vendée, in the west of France. These huts give a lot of charm to this beautiful beach in the north of the island, protected from winds by Bois de la Chaise forest. They are the symbol of late 19th century seaside activity of the island and remain in families accross generations. They were supposed to disappear a few years ago because of coastline protection laws but the owners could get an exemption provided that they keep them in good state and keep them in their family and never sell them.
