Photographer's Note

A row of disparate houses seen close to the cathedral in old Le Mans.

Vieux Mans ( also called Cité Plantagenêt) is a very picturesque area in the centre of the city of Le Mans where the cobbled streets and half-timbered house fronts have provided the setting for a number of films, including Gérard Depardieu in Cyrano de Bergerac (1989). Well worth a visit, particularly if you are blessed with good weather unlike during my visit!

The windows all look pretty much alike but the styles of the roofs are all very different so aptly titled. Good sharpness & perspective. Nice repetition of geometric patterns & shapes also with superb shadow detail. Tfs!

Je suis certain que l'intérieur de ces maisons est accueillant et douillet, ce que ne montrent pas ces façades sous la grisaille. Le cadrage est habile avec la rue. Excellente qualité. Bravo.

Hello Stephen,

A nice shot of these facades with variation from one building to the other. I like different style roofs and different colored doors. Nice quiet atmosphere with soft colors.

The curve of the street is an asset to the composition. The point of view is allowing me to see the details and colors of the architectures of the houses. The cloudy sky is civing a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Stephen,

I would not be surprised if you were approached by the French tourist board and asked to complile a book on interesting places to visit in France!
I have to agree with you, this does look an interesting place. The houses are delightful with their different facades but all with the characteristic shutters. A fine pov to draw the viewer into the shot and despite the lack of sunshine, you have captured the details sharply.
