Photographer's Note

A view on Clermont castle on heights surrounding river Loire near Le Cellier between Nantes and Ancenis. It was built from 1643 to 1649 and was filed as historical monument from 1941. This photo is a tribue to Louis de Funès, who died in Nantes exactly 30 years ago on january 27th 1983. Clermont castle was bought by Louis de Funès from 1967 and he lived there until he died. He was buried in Le Cellier cemetery not far from the castle. Louis de Funès really made me laugh when I was a kid and he still continues today !

No need to tell to TE french members who Louis de Funès was ! So these few words are to introduce Louis de Funès to the ones who don't know him. Louis de Funès was a french comedy actor of spanish origin who was very popular in France in second half of 20th century. He played in more than 140 movies and in 60s and 70s he was the french box office champion. It is estimated that his films were watched by more than 150 millions people in french cinemas ! Louis de Funès was extremely funny probably because of his ungrateful appearance but most of all because of the very exuberant way he played, making a lot of grins and incredible angers. It is often said it is very difficult to make people laugh and Louis de Funès was the best for that !

To better understand what kind of actor Louis de Funès was, a few extracts from his movies :
- La Grande Vadrouille (1966)
- Le Corniaud (1965)
- Rabbi Jacob (1973)
- and a collection of grins and angers !
