Photographer's Note

One more shot token in Lavau-sur-Loire on river Loire estuary between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire. What is surprising in this estuary is the mix of two things that look conflicting : nature and industry. On the both sides of river Loire, you have wide wetlands with remarkable flora and wildlife (in particular birds) and meadows that host sheeps, cows or horses breeding. And in the middle of this wild nature there are some industrial complexes ! On the picture you can see Cordemais power plant. On the opposite you could see the outline of Donges refinery and port of Nantes - Saint-Nazaire cranes. On the other side of the river Loire there is a huge wind turbine that is the prootype for future wind turbines farms off Saint-Nazaire. And in other places you could see foundries, shipyards, many factories (some of them abandoned). And a nuclear plan project was abandoned (thanks God !) there a few years ago ! This is a strange mix, and probably what makes this estuary interesting.
