Photographer’s Note

Continuing my series on Brittany through a very wide angle lens, a quite different style today. I decided to focus on the most common nightlife activity in a family style seaside resort on the Brittany coast: eating ice cream! Note there was a fabulous light that day with sunset happening under a dark grey sky.

With such a wide angle lens you had to get close for this, although he doesn't seem to mind. Very good portrait also typical for seaside resorts in the UK too. Your choice of DOF was perfect.

Salut Vincent,
le rouge de la glace et le rouge de son visage...Il a de la difficulté à cacher son plaisir!:D J'adore le background: les gens, la "tour", le ciel,mais surtout l'écriture BLEU en français!
Non, j'adore, vraiment! Surtout en cause que ça sort du caractère carte postal dans lequel on a tendance à se complaire.

j'aime bien le cadrage, les couleurs et la vitalité de la scéne. J'ai quelques doutes par rapport à la qualité de cette glace qui a une couleur McDonald style :)!

Salut Vincent,
Pour faire une photo comme ça au grand-angle, il fallait que tu sois vraiment sous son nez. Je pense donc qu'il ne s'agit pas d'un inconnu croisé dans la rue qui se serait certainement demandé ce que tu lui voulais. J'aime beaucoup la compo qui permet une vue sur l'arrière plan et des couleurs qui claquent.

Extraordinaire moment! La texture et qualité sont si bonnes qu'il donne envie de commencer à manger aussi. Très bon couleurs, grande netteté! Il est vraiment content, on s'aperçoit bien! Très belle photo quotidienne!

Encore une bonne utilisation du grand angle.
La taille de cette glace est imposante, et la focale permet de découvrir une partie de ce village.

A ce stade, ce n'est plus inattendu, c'est improbable comme compo chez toi...
Mais je dois avouer que ce grand angle, un peu extrême (bien joué pour la glace !!) va bien a ce kid en train de se faire un bon plaisir avec son cône !!!
Très étonnant finalement.

Tres chouette ca, l'environnement fait ressortit une ambiance animee et pre nocturne dans des conditions orageuse, et cette enseigne neon avec la gars qui leche sa glace ca colle tres bien avec, en plus y'a une sorte de dominante rouge sur lui qui est vraiment ideale.

You have a complete change of mood, Vince. The portrait is great, dominated by that amazing ice cream. great angle too, giving a dramatic effect to the composition. Your subject is perfectly sharp with good use of DoF beyond. great colour too. regards Kevin

Hi Vincent,
A clever use of your wide angle lens. Perfect focus in the foreground and a fascinating backdrop. The bright hues and tones seem to depict a merry seaside town in the summer. My one regret in my recent visit to France is my failure to use my 10-22, which can be much more beneficial than in my typical N. American experience with landscapes. You are giving a good demonstration of the usefulness of wide angle. Cheers.

Wow, in your face photography. I hope the ice cream eater didn't mind. This is exceptionally well done with a shallow DOF to render the insignificant stuff OOF and maintain the focus on the ice cream and face. Excellent exposure. Well done!

background is one of the important thing in aphotographs..here,in this shot the subject is good but if you look after the bg ,I think it would be more better...otherwise color is good..best wishes...subir

Les couleurs sont un peu perturbantes à la première vue, mais au bout de quelques secondes, je les trouve très bien.
La prise est superbe, avec la glace et son amateur au premier plan, et avec le flou naturel de l'arrière plan. La composition dynamique et originale, j'aime beaucoup.

Salut Vincent, c'est vraiment pas mal du tout ca comme essai, je suis plus que convaincu : au grand angle ça rend plus que bien, ça me donne de nouvelles idées et perspectives d'utilisation de cet engin, il est top hein cet objo ? ;)
L'arrière plan gauche bien qu'avec une belle lumière est chouette mais n'apporte selon moi pas grand chose : LA photo c'est ce mec qui bouffe sa glace devant le paneau "chocolatier".
Un grand bol d'air de vacances, de fraise et de vanille, au grand angle ça fait vraiment une glace énorme !

Very good shot Vincent. This truly captures the mood of summertime. The wide angle close really makes the ice cream cone stand out, while we still get to see a lot of the surroundings. I love this stormy looking lighting too. Nice work.
