56- Wild orchid Photo

Photographer’s Note

Today is Election day in France! A magnificent spring day, which allowed us to keep to our traditional 2Km walk from our house to the village to accomplish our civic duties.
I always think Spring is the best season of all, because it's the season of revival, everything is new and fresh... Let's hope the same thing will happen to French life after these elections!
Anyway, on our walk to the village and back, I collected a nice bunch of wild flowers, only in my picture box of course, in order to protect the environment. This time of the year is when they are the most varied, and we are lucky that the council services don't use chemicals, as weed killers. They even wait before they trim the hedges,that the plants have sown their seeds for next year's crop!
In WS I shall add all the other wild flowers I photographed. We have been studying our botanical book, in order to give you and us the particulars about these plants. We are so used to seeing them along the earth banks, but half the time, we never asked ourselves what their names were.
If You have any additional details to give us about them, please, don't hesitate!

Nice shot Marie Louise! What you have here looks like an Early Purple Orchid (Orchis mascula) to me. Colours are vivid and the contrast between the green and purple works well. There's a slight problem with the quality of the image though, it looks very jagged/pixellated to me - it's probably something to do with your resizing/sharpening process, unless you were using a camera which only provides this resolution - what did you shoot it with? That means that the flower itself doesn't seem quite as detailed as I'd like.

Start with the original image, resize using Bicubic (not Sharper/Smoother), then sharpen a little using SmartSharpen (75%, 0.8px, 0), and see whether it looks better.

Nice to see some more map data on TE! Well captured :)

Hallo Marie Louise!
A wonderful shot of wonderful and strong orchids. I think these belong to the family "Dactylorhiza" in German "Knabenkraut" and they mostly grow at humid not dunged meadows. But perhaps Adrian is right - orchids are a very big family!. It's astonishing that they are already blooming now. A really beautiful photo!

La fleur magenta dans son écrin vert.Une belle complémentarité.Tu aurais peut-être te rapprocher un peu plus pour donner de l'impacte à la fleur.Du beau travail.

Ce sont ici tous les charmes du printemps dans nos campagnes bretonnes. Nous profitons tous ces temps ci d'un magnifique soleil qui met bien en évidence toutes les beautés de la nature et tu as bien raison de nous en faire profiter. Hola Marie Louise,
me gusta la sencillez de esta composición, donde el plano corto de esta orquídea salvaje, con su bello color, rodeada de la hierba verde que brilla al sol.
Los colores son vivos y muy agradables, aportan un extra de interés y belleza a esta imagen de la naturaleza en primavera.
Es una foto con vida, muy atractiva, y está bien hecha.

Salut Marie Louise,

It's a beautiful flower and you captured it reasonably well. IMHO, the compo could be a bit better - you have an interesting triangle that could be used to make the image a bit punchier. But the only annoying flaw is the lack of focus, something that shows up also in some of the WS's.

This idea of presenting all those beautiful wild flowers is very interesting and praisable. I wonder why you don't use posts instead of WS's, as they would get much more audience. Maybe a mix of posts and WS's would be a good idea also.

Voici une composition très simple mais très bien réussie, particulièrement au niveau lumière & coleurs. Peut-être aurais-je un peu décentré le sujet mais bon, ce n'est pas si important.

Belle orchidée sauvage que voila, même si elle souffre d'un brin de flou (apparement, le focus s'est fait sur l'arrière plan). Il s'agit tres probablement d'un Orchis Mâle (Orchis Mascula, voir http://asso.acmo.free.fr/expo/mascula.pdf) ou peut-être, mais je ne pense pas étant donné ce que je peux en voir sur l'image d'un Orchis à Sac (Dactylorhiza Saccifera, voir http://asso.acmo.free.fr/expo/saccifera.pdf). Voila d'ailleurs l'adresse d'un site passionnant (en tout cas à mes yeux) et plein de ressources pour identifier ces magnifiques plantes sauvages...

wonderful ... the strong colors of the orchid and the green grass! The depth is very good - I´m afraid I couldn´t do such a shot with my camera. This photo gives us the real spring feeling, it´s just great!

Je ne connais pas le nom de la fleur , mais ce n'est pas une exclusivité bretonne , je crois ( à l'opposé de la maison ronde .... )!!!!
C'est une belle photo en plongée , avec de belles couleurs !

Hi,
TFS with us this rare species.
It would be nice if you could focus only on ONE of the wild Orchid on the foreground. It will bring up the sharpness and clearness to the wild Orchid. Because I think I have this wild Orchid in my garden.

En cuanto a ayuda, lamento no poder darte ninguna, ya que de plantas no tengo ni idea, solo que algunas son verdes, y otras de colores como esta, Ja, ja, ja! :))
