THE PLACE WHERE I LIVE V : 150 metres from where I live is a meadow, called " Didrouzig ", meaning "No noise", in the breton language. It's an absolute paradise where you can only hear the birds' songs, the flowing of the little stream, or the humming of the bees or of the dragon flies. It's surrounded with trees and yet, it receives the sun perfectly, but is protected from the winds. ( Very important in Finistère near the Atlantic coast.)
It does become a little noisy, when we go down there on picnics and taste this little bit of paradise. The rest of the time, it's dedicated to nature. All the wild life make it their palace, including the "KORRIGANS", breton goblins, who sleep in the heart of the huge leaves and quickly disappear underground, as soon as they hear somebody coming down the forest path.
Unfortunately, they never bothered to put a notice up with the name of their house, the huge plant, I mean.

In the 1st WS, I am adding the photo of "FEUNTENN AN DIAOUL " ( DEVIL'S FOUNTAIN IN BRETON), just the other side of the stream, which I posted in October, 2 pages before this one.
In the 2nd WS, I am adding the forest path leading off the meadow.
Thanks to mlmurray, I now know the name, and everything about the plant: It's GUNNERA MANICATA (Latin name), which you'll find everything about on Google of course.
It's originated in Brazil, and likes hot humidity.It then grows to about 3 meters.
June 2005: In Winter, when I did this posting, the leaves die out, so we had no way of measuring the plant, as we weren't sure of the height in our temperate climate.
Well, now it's up again, so I am adding 2 more WS, to complete my main posting.
