THE PLACE WHERE I LIVE IV.
Loperhet was fairly small for a long time:about 1000 inhabitants, until the building of the new 4 lane "pont de l'Iroise" in 1994, leading to the city of Brest 14km away. Now it has become a bit of a dormitory village ( 3500 inhabitants.)for people working in the bigger city.
However, it still has a life of its own with a few shops, 2 schools (1 of them being shown as WS in my posting "view from my school window" )
and a lot of associations that keep the community close and busy outside work.
It has only got a little old architectural heritage, so I thought I would show it on TE.
This quaint little house: "La Maison Ronde" , renovated in 1996, was built in the 19th century by a "Monsieur Georgelin." He was no famous architect, but simply imagined a shape for a house which would fit in the little piece of land that he owned between the house behind and another house that used to be in front.
He certainly didn't know that his cutely-shaped house would become THE feature of the village, for posterity.
I am adding some WS:
1 of the house of associations, the architecture of which, reminds us of " la Maison Ronde".
and 1 of the restaurant and the bakery-grocery store.
