Photographer’s Note

The cult of the dead is still very vivid in Brittany, and on All Saints Day, on November 1st, it's very common for people to reunite, just as for Christmas.
They often go to church in the morning and then go to the cemeteries to pay their respects to the deceased in their families. All the tombs are covered in flowers, and the graveyards are a beautiful, and cheerful sight, crowded with people who haven't seen each other in a long time.
I like the French saying: " one of the virtues of death is to reunite the living. "
It's cheerful of course, if the deaths they are remembering were normal at a normal age to die.
But if the death is recent and was tragic, of course, there is a lot of sorrow. That's why I didn't want to offend anyone by taking the photograph while the cemetery was crowded.
