Photographer's Note

Altocumulus stratiformis 7-1-17 18h53
One January evening, my eye was struck by the aspect of the sky that seemed to be on fire. I thought of the saying "Red sky at night, shepherd's delight" or "Ciel rouge le soir, couleur d'espoir" in French.
But on the other hand, the aspect of the clouds, which are the "alto-cumulus" type seems to indicate incoming rain.
Well, both predictions were right : We had rain in the night and part of the next morning. But the rest of the day was fine enough even to do the garden, in January !!
In the background, the sea inlet on the right is the "Tinduff harbour" in Plougastel, and further still on the left, is the "Bay of Brest", with Lanveoc-Poulmic where the French Naval Academy for officers is based.

In WS, I have added a photo of the same dramatic sky, taken 20 sec later with the zoom. Quite a diifferent effect !
