Good Morning Everyone,
This is the four arched bridge which connects the ruined Abbey de Bon Repos with the café.
It really is a most beautiful spot, with its tranquil water environment and unspoilt greenery, and you can easily imagine why monks would want to build an abbey here.
Whilst staying in Brittany, we would sometimes cycle down, across this bridge and have a well earned cup of cider at the open air café, visible as red gazebos on the left.
There are some delightful walks around here, following the banks of Lake Guerledan or along the Nantes/Brest Canal.
Have a lovely day,

Hello Beverley ,
I thought that it was in Britain !
A superb old stoned bridge with its four arches and their reflections . May be it waoul have been better with a part of sky at the top , but I suppose that there is a reason for this framing .

Like the choice of angle and POV to shoot this beautiful bridge. Nice diagonal presented by the arches of the bridge. The perfect mirror reflections has helped in forming 4 complete circles receding in size from right to left. Excellent observation. The sylvan surroundings provide for a picturesque backdrop for the bridge. Nicely done, thanks for sharing.

Have a good week - B.

Looks just the spot for a pleasant afternoon drink sat on the terrace. The panoramic frame suits the composition perfectly with the bridge sweeping in from the right and directing the viewer toward the focal point offered by the café. Exposure is spot on and the colours agreeable and natural. Very good sharpness.

J'aime beaucoup la ligne de fuite qu'apporte le pont dans l'image. Il est très beau avec cette végétation qui pousse sur les vieilles pierres. Il semble y avoir une belle animation sur l'autre rive.

This sepcene is so calm and tranquil, as you say I can easily imagine this being a place for quiet contemplation by the monks. I love that this cal water has made the perfect circles in the bridge with their reflection.
Thanks as always.
P.S. yes, I did watch the final of the six nations and I was on the edge of my seat. Very pleased with the result. :)

Very nice photo of this lovely bridge in the countryside with the repeated arches and the stunning reflection in the still river below. It looks a beautiful, quiet place. The greenery makes the ideal backdrop for this compelling architecture. Lovely natural tones and superb clarity to this fine picture which you have shot from a well chosen viewpoint.

This is a delightful view of the well built bridge crossing the calm water in a lush green environment. Your choice of POV is well chosen and the colours and light are superb.

Good evening Beverly,
Fabulous double eyes-glasses reflection, the old brdge was beautifully under the askewed POV chosen, and above the calm smooth water surface.
Lavish green and contrast with red parasoles added fine diff. colors to balance the old grey stones.

This here is really a beautiful stone bridge, I like the diagonal composition and reflections creating almost round forms, beautiful, clear and crisp photo

this sounds like a good place to spend a couple of days after reading your description. I can almost feel the peaceful atmosphere here! Good pov with the old and impressive stone bridge in focus but the old house on the other side also looks interesting. It probably have a good view along the canal. It´s nice to see a picture from summer time after a long and gloomy winter. Tfs!

Nice repetition of the stone arches in the old bridge with wonderful symmetrical reflections forming perfect circles, and superb colour and saturation. The red kiosks in the bg contrast well against the blue. The angled pov adds perspective from bottom right to top left. Tfs!

I can only assume the monks chose this location not for the tranquility and landscape as you mentioned, but due to the proximity of the cafe...am I right? :)
Easy to understand why this would be an ideal spot, it really is quite beautiful, and the calm waters amplify that sentiment of peace. Not only that, but it makes for a super reflection, giving us a two-for-one effect on the bridge. I'll gladly trade you some skyscrapers for a few bridges, what do you say? :)
It never ceases to amaze me, the quality craftsmanship from long ago, well before any of today's technology...so I'll say it again, beautiful! Enjoy the new day. All the best.

The arches are beautifully reflected in the water and doubles the pleasure of the scene. Something red here as well... We know that Brittany is a very fine part of France but we apparently missed this place. We will save it for next time...

This seems a quiet, charming place to ride bikes or walk to them rest drinking something well deserved
The bridge and its arches and reflections provide a good subject , here managed to provide great deepness and perspective
abmdsudi (43490) 2014-03-19 6:52
Such a scenic and pleasant country side! It's finely composed and impressive shooting point in beautiful light and textures in the stonework by focusing more strongly on quality of the structure itself. There's a really feeling of depth and perspective while the strong shapes, shadows, colours and reflection interplay nicely in the setting. You've done a fine photo work here. Congrats, tfs

Salut ma chere Bev
oooh la la! As they French would say :)
This is a stunning photo, you must be pleased as punch with it. I love the diagonal lines and of course the amazing symmetry. These stone bridges are not only beautiful, but fascinating and they provide such brilliant subjects, especially when photographed as skilfully as they are here in this image. Beautiful work and you did really well with the light which looks to have been a little diffused.
