Dinan is a walled Breton town and a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in north-western France. Its inhabitants, of which there were 10,953 in 2008, are called dinannais / dinannaises.
It lies on the River Rance, though rather unusually most urban development has been on the hillside, overlooking the river. The area alongside the River Rance is known as the port of Dinan and is connected to the town by the steep streets of Rue Jerzual and its continuation outside the walls the Rue de Petit Fort.
The medieval town on the hilltop has many fine old buildings, some of which date from the 13th century. The town also retains a large section of the city walls, part of which can be walked round.
Major historical attractions include the Jacobins Theatre dating from 1224, the flamboyant Gothic St Malo's Church, the Romanesque St Saviour's Basilica, Duchess Anne's Tower and the Château de Dinan.

Good Morning Stephen,
I love the spirit of determination!
We will not be deterred from alfresco dining despite the rain!!
It is a fine setting. I love the characteristically, tall building with its long windows and turretted roof. It cannot fail to stir memories.
Despite the inclement conditions, you have a beautifully detailed shot; the lady with the umbrella animates it and the flag draws the eye through the shot.
Have a lovely day,

:-D, another raining day..but I like the rain washed cobbled street.. looks fresh and colour is better. The orange coloured umbrella brightened up the whole scene.

The vividness and clarity of the images in the photograph is excellent.
Perhaps the soft light helps, but here the multiple colours of the wet foot path, the variety if shades of brown, of the walls are very well captured.
The flowers in the terraces and the people sitting below the shades of the 'open' cafes gives the photograph a lot of variety and gives it a definite mood.
Thanks for sharing, Stephen.

a nice composition. Like the paleness of the atmosphere due to the rain... And those contrasting colours... The flag and the umbrella are contrasting very well with the rest. Nice depth and sharpness. Superb work.

would never have realised it was raining if not for the umbrella, the light is bright and the colours stand out so attractively. It gives the cobble stones a varnished effect and your composition makes them all the more inviting as they sweep away out of shot. Wonderful architecture and full of character. Excellent!
Regards - Brian.

Salut cher Stephen
An overcast Summer's day, it seems the sun was hiding from you on your photowalkabout. But another beautiful building and very characteristic town. The wet cobblestones are a lovely element in this photo and the colourful flags and flowers contrast beautifully with the neutral colours of the stonework.
Thanks for sharing, have a beautiful day

Charming urban environment!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, chosen pov and composition really pleased me here!
Again, a graduated nd filter would help you here with the bright sky... I think... someone told me that once but I haven't managed to get one myself yet!
TFS - congrats,

when i opened up this photo, its funny how the eye is drawn immediately to two places - the colorful flag and the colorful umbrella.
looks like you captured some of the rainy stuff again :)
well, at least it gave you a well illuminated cobble stone :)
love the architecture and layout.
see you around

Malgré la pluie, cette jolie ville garde son charme; des balcons bien fleuris, cette femme au parapluie orange qui donne une note de couleur, les gens sous la terrasse et le sol mouillé sur les pavés
belle composition bien cadrée

A rainy day can ruin the tour for visitors, but I can see people sit in the cafe' waiting for a better opportunity to take pictures.
Nice corner in the old town collected, Stephen.
Flowers and flag add vivid tone, while the lady with an umbrela gave a good dynamic scale to the image.

This is not the best weather for photography, but this is a part of our life. Good presentation of a rainy Dina. Attractive summer daily life scene. Very nice colours spots on the grey stone.
