The last in a short series of simple compositions depicting the village of Budos.

Budos is a small village (population just over 600), which stands on the river Ciron in the Graves wine growing area of the Gironde département. It is located not far from the much more famous wine village of Sauternes. As may be imagined, the principal economic activity of the village is viticulture.

Budos is also one of the largest sources of water for the region, providing water to the southern part of the Bordeaux conurbation.

Now in ruins, the château stands outside the village amidst the vineyards. It is built on a low plateau at the foot of a hill just outside the village. It dominates a plain some 10 to 15 kilometres in extent which slopes gently towards the horizon, bounded by hills at the foot of which runs the Garonne.

An extensive article about the history of the château is available in French at the website of Budos Mairie here:

Bonjour Stephen
Nicole

a very pleasing landscape well capture and composed

Salut Stephen,
Excellente semaine
Pierre

Hi Stephen

A superb overview of the vineyard with the old stone Chateau, making a good focal point. Tfs!

an interesting view point on this castle, maybe i'd add a bit of blue in the colour balance,
regards
jo

Bonjour Stephen,

Amicalement
Hervé

Hi Stephen,
A very very fine transition from green into blue! A fine castle and a beautiful landscape. This is certainly a fine touristic propaganda for this part of France.
Greetings from Gothenburg

Hello Stephen,

You live amidst in so much history. This image and the accompanying note make a very good TE package. The source of water that you mention, I assume, refers to the bottle water so popular on dinner tables in France.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hi Stephen,
Good setting to capture this chateau of history. Good perspective and well balanced light. TFs. Gerald

Very nice composition with good balance and perspective. Good natural tones on the meadow before the castle. Well done.
Best wishes,
Achim

It is a fine Chateau, Stephen and ,as a fine Chateau should, it has a fine vineyard before it.This image make me recall my journeys through this countryside, when i was younger, drinking the wines are we went. Today, i guess that we would be arrested for drunkenness. the beauty are fruitfulness of this landscape seems totally linked to the character of the great wines. As long as there is countryside like this, all's well with the world. regards kevin
