Cathedral Saint-Front of XIIe century, and its five cupolas of Byzantine style, restored with the XIXe century, its bell-tower of XIIe century.
Church Saint-Front until 1669, of the name of an evangelist of the area in IIIe century, then cathedral.

The three monumental glosses which light the cathedral were used to illuminate Notre-Dame de Paris at the time of the marriage as Napoleon III on January 29, 1853.

At the XIXe century, architecture took as a starting point the Byzantine architecture. From 1852 to 1895, the Saint-Front cathedral is restored by, inter alia architects, Paul Abadie, (student of Viollet-le-Duc), architect also of the basilica of the Sacré-Coeur in Paris. Only the bell-tower of XIIe century is preserved.

The cathedral is registered since 1998 with the World heritage of Humanity within the framework of the ways of St-Jacques-of-Compostelle.

Périgueux is a french commune, located in the department of the Dordogne of the Aquitaine region, populated of 30193 Pétrocoriens, distributed on 10 km², that is to say 2960 hab./km².

C'est vrai qu'elle a un air exotique cette église et c'est assez étonnant de la situer dans notre pays. Néanmoins elle a beaucoup de cachet avec tous ces clochetons.

Hello Joël,

Le ciel tout ouateux, tout doux entoure cette cathédrale de rêve, ces tours fières, ce clocher blanc, quelle image, fantastique, le rendu desur le coupole est superbe, un peu de brillant, et un cadrage au millimètre, grandiose.

Hello Joël,
A fine capture of this lovely building, which is like no other cathedral in France that I know of. The domes and bell tower are shown to very good effect and there is some nice framing from the foreground trees.

Posso dizer que essa fotografia sua é uma de minhas favoritas!
A Catedral é lindíssima e o ponto de vista escolhido, o formato horizontal e a composição que você fez estão todos muito bons!
Além da bela arquitetura do templo, destaco a inclusão da vegetação na parte inferior da imagem e o céu que está muito interessante - com a formação das nuvens - e, sim, muito belo!

Toujours étonnant de découvrir dans nos régions ces éléments d'architecture byzantine.
Tu montres ici comment on peut faire ressortir des bâtiments dans une photo prise sous un ciel peu clément, très réussi le contraste entre ce ciel et la cathédrale. J'aime aussi beaucoup l'éaquilibre de ta composition avec le clocher bien situé sur la gauche.

c'est completement super. On est tous seduit par le magnifique sujet. Tu as su choisir la position et la lumiere etait a ton service. Ton Canon ne rate pas. Bravo, ami.

J'ai visite Perigueux en passant. Je me souviens du Musee des beaux arts. Et quelle belle approche dans la vallee de la Dordogne. Merci de m'avoir ravive les souvenirs.

lorsque j'y étais l'année dernière, il y avait des échafaudages partout... pas facile de faire une photo ! j'apprécie cette image et le graphisme de ces coupoles; Le ciel est superbe également.

What a wonderful building. It seems to dominate all the surroundings. The bell tower seems to be of a different style, but as I understand your note it was just the restoration that was done at different times. There is a gentle light on the scene; quite enhancing. Well done

en effet, cette cathédrale est originale de par son architecture bysantine et surprenante dans nos régions, mais ces petites coupoles et clochetons la mettent bien en valeur
L'interieur est assez austère d'ailleurs, rien que les murs assez anciens, d'une couleur triste
belle composition extérieure avec cette architecture

La netteté est impeccable, lumière et couleurs bien douces.

Interesting composition to show an mixed style cathedral where the tower is not look like in the Byzantine design, nice gardening with trees maintained in round shape, the sky and clouds are fantastic resemble to soft fabric, nice color, good shoot.
