Cathedral Saint-Front of XIIe century, and its five cupolas of Byzantine style, restored with the XIXe century, its bell-tower of XIIe century. (4 images).
Church Saint-Front until 1669, of the name of an evangelist of the area in IIIe century, then cathedral.

At the XIXe century, architecture took as a starting point the Byzantine architecture. From 1852 to 1895, the cathedral Saint-Front is restored by, inter alia architects, Paul Abadie, (student of Viollet-le-Duc), architect also of the basilica of the Sacré-Coeur in Paris. Only the bell-tower of XIIe century is preserved.

The cathedral is registered since 1998 with the World heritage of Humanity within the framework of the ways of St-Jacques-of-Compostelle.

Périgueux is a french commune, located in the department of the Dordogne of the Aquitaine region, populated of 30193 Pétrocoriens, distributed on 10 km², that is to say 2960 hab./km².

Tu vas me faire regretter de ne pas avoir eu le temps de visiter Périgueux lors de mes dernières vacances !
Cette cathédrale est magnifique. Les coupoles et leur bel arrondi viennent rompre la verticalité du clocher, dans une belle harmonie.
Le ciel bleu sert de parfaite toile de fond et fait bien ressortir la blancheur de la pierre calcaire.
Beau travail d'exposition également. Bravo pour cette présentation élégante.

This is a nicely composed shot! The angle of the shot works well showing good depth and detail. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and DOF. The deep blue sky provides nice contrast to white stones of the building.

Une architecture étonnante, j'aime assez le contraste entre les coupoles byzantines toutes en rondeur et le clocher qui s'élance dans le ciel. Ton cadrage exclusif sur l'édifice permet de se focaliser sur ce contraste. Bien vu.

Joel, this is an interesting structure, it looks like a sand castle on the beach. Color and detail are fine as always and the shadows are nice and clean, Great capture.

very impressing play of light and shadow on the architecture, good balance of light for pleasant textures everywhere. The view on all these cupolas is very nice and including the gate and parts of the wall tell us more about the location.

L'architecture neo-byzantine est parfois surprenante , mais souvent impressionante . Comme ici , avec tous ces clochetons et ce clocher qui se détachent dans le ciel bleu métalique . Joli jeu d'ombres et de lumières .

cette architecture est superbe,avec toutes ces petites coupoles qui s'élancent vers le ciel ,et tous les décrochements de toits!!La couleur gris clair lui permet de bien se détacher sur le bleu du ciel,c'est vraiment très agréable à regarder!

je l'ai visitée, elle est très impressionante tant vu de l'extérieur que de l'intérieur ! à l'époque je prenais moins de photos, mais je suis sûr dans mes souvenirs que si j'avais essayé, j'aurais eu du mal avec l'appareil que j'avais, tant elle en impose... ton angle est intéressant,

Una escena en contra-picado muy significativa. El conjunto de cúpulas, refuerza muy bien la composición; los detalles que ofrece la iluminación establecen el apreciar una verdadera joya arquitectónica.

Certains dômes et de tours d'une grande beauté architecturale. La vue est spectaculaire en mettant l'accent sur la plus haute qui est le plus charmant. Optima définition d'une superbe lumière. Bravo!

In this one I would cut off a bit of the sky and include some more of the building, but that's the only fault I see in it, in my humble opinion! All the rest is great: sharpness, colors, light... it's a very nice building and you enhanced its beauty by the low pov, for example!

C'est une véritable forêt architecturale que tu nous proposes ici et sous une merveilleuse lumière qui ajoute un fabuleux relief à l'ensemble. Le ciel bleu fait bien ressortir le superbe clocher. Belle présentation de l'édifice, bravo Joël et merci pour les photos en WS.

Hi Joel! beautiful and complex cathedral Cathédrale Saint-Front, Périgueux.Impressive the Temple! Important work colours and POV important good management of lighting. I know that his form of is Greek cross and belongs in Roman Catholic? It has a lot of elements Byzantine. It is real decoration!
