Photographer's Note

Eymet is a commune in the Dordogne department in Aquitaine in southwestern France. A bastide town, Eymet is situated in the Périgord region, on the river Dropt.

The Bastide was founded in 1270, by Alphonse de Poitiers, Count of Toulouse and brother of Louis IX of France. It still retains the remains of its feudal chateau and arcaded square.

The village is situated at the extreme south of the Department of Dordogne on the CD933 between Bergerac and Marmande. It is around 20 km south of Bergerac, and around 100 km east of Bordeaux.

It is notable as a popular location for British expatriates living in France, who account for a third of the local population. British television viewers may remember seeing the town and some of its residents in the ITV1 programme 'Little England', a series of reality TV programmes describing the life of various ex-pat UK citizens now living in the Dordogne, with an emphasis on Eymet. The first series of twelve episodes was first shown shown in autumn 2011. A second shorter series was broadcast in 2012.

Nice subtle reflections and natural looking pastel colours with good sharpness and superb composition using the rule of thirds. I like how the reflected arches of the bridge appear to complete a set of 'eyes'. Tfs!

It is a beautiful place and the soft light has given pleasing reflections in the river, whilst the colours are very natural.
I notice that you have taken the trouble to place the bridge and the lamp in strong positions, according to the rules of composition. Well done.

Have you had the same wet and quite disagreeable weather in France, as we have in England, over the last year?

Hi Stephen,

The reflections on the water are assets to the compostion. The trees are framing well the bridge. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the bridge. The good luminosity is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

Good morning Stephen,
The fine daylight contributed a marvelous "eyes-glasses" reflection on the bridge.
Picture space has good allocation's, between river and forest on side, and sky's.
Lovely calm location, well shown.
