Photographer’s Note

Civrac-de-Blaye is a rural commune in Haute-Gironde. Its population of around 750 is spread over a number of small hamlets as well as the small village that gives the commune its name. Its economy revolves around wine making, mixed farming, animal breeding and forestry.

Another view inside the church of Saint Vivien; this time showing the splendidly carved balcony that stands above the door of the church. Also to be seen is a very nice font dating from the 18th century and carved in stone.

Taken hand-held with the ISO uprated to 800. Apologies in advance for any lack of sharpness.

Interesting inside architecture. Wonderful lines, and colours in this picture. Especially the light brown tones are well shown.

Hello Stephen,
just again one of those fine balanced captures from anywhere inside with a light that helps to see all those details and textures in a pleasant way. The open door and the sunshine falling through as a good addition. I like the contrasts of warm wood and cold clean white walls.

Hi Stephen,
In this picture I particularly like the way the staircase continues in the light from the door. This makes the composition special and improves the balance a lot. Also nice wood carvings on the balcony!

Hello Stephen. The impressing of this small church is the modest interior arrangement in wood. Also the roof is very natural and gets along without decoration. This church is congenial. You represented the nature of this church exemplary in your photo. Very beautifully. Best regards, Wolfgang.

You haven't put the exposure details so I guess you used a wide aperture to speed up the shutter, as any lack of sharpness seems to be to do with focus rather than camera shake. The background has good sharpness with lovely detail captured in the carved wood, whereas the forground (which has less importance) is slightly blurred. Perspective shots inside churches are almost always towards the altar and this image makes a pleasant change. Well done
