Magic stick, a photo from Aquitaine, West

Photographer's Note

I had the opportunity to witness a circus event with my grand son. Between each scene, the light was off, and it was a good opportunity to try something I had in my mind: a slow shutter record of the moving colored stick. As there were many places left, I could move in the right position. Hand held camera (exposure of 1 second), and setting on M (manual).
Best picture of my numerous attempts, after correction of my mistakes (thank you digital pictures!)

This works a treat, and your experimentation has certainly paid off handsomely. It almost looks as though it was a strobe light. I'd be interested to know what (and how much) post-processing you needed to do.

Salut Claude,

Je trouve justement que l'un des intérets de la photo est de pouvoir faire des expérimentations de ce type pour montrer un autre type de réalité comme les rotations de ciel étoilé par exemple.
Joli cadrage, et un bel éventail de paon irisé.

Quand on dit qu'un bon photographe peut faire une photo n'importe quand, sur n'importe quel sujet, dans n'importe quelle circonstance, je crois que c'est clair ici !

Hello Claude - A difficult situation but I love the free feel of the result. Although we cannot see the child's expression I can easily imagine his delight at waving the wand and watching the colours. A super vibrant experimental shot. My warmest wishes for 2013. Rosemary
