Photographer's Note
A shot of the Dordogne Valley in Perigord. The river flows generally west about 500 km through the Limousin and Périgord regions before flowing into the Gironde, its common estuary with the Garonne, at the "Ambès beak", in the north of the city of Bordeaux. You can see two castles here; they are the Castelanud Castle, a medieval fortress that was erected to face its rival, the Château de Beynac and today picturesquely restored, a private property open to the public, that houses a much-visited museum of medieval warfare, featuring reconstructions of siege engines, mangonneaux, and trebuchets. The castle is listed as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.(from Wikipedia)
The other castle Fayrac Castle. It was an English forward position in the Hundred Years War, built to watch over Beynac, on the opposite bank, where the French were holed up. All slated pepper-pot towers, it's unfortunately closed to the public.
(Thank you Gunnar!)

Hi Giuseppe,
A beautiful scene from Château de Beynac and the Dordogne river. The castle to the left must be Fayrac, Milandes is further west and not visible from here. But nevertheless, a fine photo.
Regards
Gunnar
