Annecy lies At the edge of the beautiful turquoise Lac d'Annecy, about 30 miles south of Geneva, it's the main administrative city of the Haute Savoie region.

Text from France-for-visitors.com:

"The most picturesque part of Annecy lies at the foot of the castle hill, a warren of lanes, passages and arcaded houses, below and between which flow branches of the Canal du Thiou, draining the lake into the River Fier. The houses, ringed by canal-side railings overflowing with geraniums and petunias, are incredibly beautiful, but the effect is marred by the fact that almost every shopfront in this area is either a restaurant or a souvenir shop."

* Of course taking a stroll around the streets of the old town of Annecy towards the Lake could not be missed. We enjoyed the architecture, the canals, the stores and boutiques, and a myriad of picturesque cobblestone streets, most remaining pedestrian streets.

** And also - the title explained - an incredible amount of icecream shops!!! :o)

The colors are so baeautiful and almost look like the colors of ice cream.
The composition is wonderful and I like the details. I like the lamp on the right side of the photo. It also looks like you caught a photographer too. Beautiful reflections.

The house towards the back has the color of pistachio ice cream ( ehich now makes me want to eat pistachio ice cream for break fast).

Wow! A picture for me! Yes, you promised me and I love this one. BTW, this is the second already for me from your trip.
I love the perspective in the picture and the soft pastel colors, I think you must have very harsh light, maybe midday, and the shadows aren't even strong. I like the arches of the bridge, and the little stone steps on the side. Looking at those, I think the water level is rather low.

I have been once (long ago) in Annecy for a couple of days, was on a holiday with two other women, and it was the worst holiday I ever had, one of the women was sooo jalous of me, it was awful. At last we decided to go to Annecy, and I'm happy as soon as I can swim, and they went hiking for a couple of days. So we more or less split up, that was the best we could do ;-).

en tout petit, je pensait que c'était Venise -en plus, quoi de mieux qu'une glace italienne ? mais non, surprise, c'est Annecy. je n'imaginais pas du tout cette ville ainsi, elle est jolie et pimpante avec ses façades colorées et les jardinieres de fleurs. belle image bien composée et pleine de détails charmants.

Une image aux couleurs très douces.
Je pensais que le titre était en fait lié à ces couleurs. Quant aux eaux du lac, ce sont des bains de pistache. Fraise, abricot, pomme, chocolat, citron, vanille... Tout y est :^)

Une palette qui se situe effectivement dans les teintes pastels, mais aussi un cadrage et une perspective qui ne souffrent d'aucun défaut. Même l'heure du cliché semble avoir été choisie à bon escient, tant la luminosité est idéale. Un petit air de vacances en ce début d ejuillet. Bravo !

Très beau cadrage et ces tons légèrement pastels sont très attractifs. Et ayant fait quelques tours dans Annecy, je dois dire que le titre m'a fait sourire. J'aime beaucoup cette photo qui reflète bien mes impressions passées de cette partie de la ville. Bravo !

I've noticed you don't post photos on a daily basis, but when you post one it's a shear success!
Love the way Cristina describes your colours comparing them to colours of ice-cream; indeed a very soft, pastel colours that go well with a lazy sunny day and enjoying Annecy at a slow pace.
Nice POV with a promenade and railings making a fine curve throughout the frame, the absence of sky (replaced by the blue of a nearby mountain - which I find VERY clever!), all in all a great view on both sides of the canal.
Looks like an absolutely stunning and a must-visit place!

Very pretty colours, especially on the water. I was curious about the texture in the sky, until I read robiuk's comment!

Do you really think restaurants and souvenir shops spoil a town? Aren't they just as genuine today as once were cobblers' or blacksmiths' workshops? When we all live in sterile glass bubbles and exchange electronic holograms, won't people marvel over those quaint old places where people used to eat animal corpses off wooden tables in the street and buy real plastic Eiffel Tower replicas for their friends? But ice-cream parlours are beautiful in any age, that's for sure.

Les couleurs des glaces semblent se refletter dans les teintes des facades de ces maisons, de la glace pistache a du etre deversée dans les canaux...c'est une tres belle image, Annecy est un endroit que je ne connais pas et que je decouvre agréablement avec cette capture...si un jour j'ai l'occasion de venir ici, je pourrais dire bye bye a ma ligne.

Bonsoir Viviane. What a delightful photo from Annecy, well framed with the perspective along the turquoise canal. The June sun works at the best to accentuate the pastel color palette in the old architecture, and the embankment with the small shops and restaurants looks like a most inviting place for a stroll, or just to have a refreshing ice cream. Lovely shot, I really enjoy it.

Well, since its an icecream paradise, I think I have to go. Ice cream is one of those vices that I will refuse to give up.

The city looks absolutely magnificent. So many colors, I love the architecture, the scenic canals. Stunning little town that I have to include on my next trip to France

The colours are very pleasent and your framing also very good.

J'ai d'abord fait le lien entre les facades bien colorees et les differents parfums de glace, et je dois avouer que savourer une petite glace sur une de ces terrasse ne serait pas du tout pour me deplaire !!

J'aime bien la composition qui, associee au peu de gens presents, donne une belle impression de tranquilite et de calme. En revanche, je trouve aussi que la lumiere est un peu crue, mais comme tu l'as dit, on ne peut pas tout avoir, n'est ce pas ! Un avantage etant que ca eclaire tout, sans vraiment de zones d'ombre, et c'est agreable. Bravo,

Annecy une des plus belles villes de France !
Une très bonne composition baignée d'une lumière latérale qui donne un parfait relief.
La présence des touristes n'est pas imposante, cela me donne envie d'y retourner un jour.

An excellent capture of the beautiful Annecy, Viviane. The winding old canal is refreshing for the city and for your composition. The colors on the water and the buildings are very nicely rendered - the amount of tourists is just enough - and the Alpine backdrop is superbly inserted. I love the fact that you've shot the bridge, where I stood when shooting my night shot. Great fun and very well done!

Have you ever been approached by france-for-visitors.com (non-personal) wanting to use your photos without any compensation?

I once evaluated almost the very same shot of this place and I tried to look it up but I am afraid that post is gone with the member, it was from the same angle and as I recall, this one is sharper but as colored of this fine place, always nice to see it back, a place where you have to go when you are in the neigbourhoud seeing this fine shot again.

Que c'est beau et attrayant Annecy, j'y suis allé une fois il y'a 20 ans, et j'avais oublié que c'était si beau. Ta photo me fait revoir cet endroit ou j'avais passé une magnifique journée ( Et un déjeuner aussi )dans les meilleures des circonstances.

Viviane, c'est une photo à me donner envie de visiter Annecy où je ne me suis rendu que pour le travail une journée. La photo est bien composée et la présence des touristes met de la vie dans le cliché.
