Storm over Grenoble Photo

Photographer’s Note

It was a curious weather and a strange light over Grenoble. By this funny evening, I had the chance to meet Alainh and this image is dedicated to him and his friend Tarzan :o)

Wr had a very bad weather for this week-end in Grenoble but we decided to come up to "Tour sans Venin" which is a fantastic panorama over the city of Grenoble, and the prefered observation desk of our friend Alain.

Talk about a landscape shot! Wouff!

Salut Christian... Quel, mais quel point de vue gigantesque! C’est débile! J’imagine que cette scène doit être tellement impressionante en haute résolution, c’est incroyable.

Avant de regarder l’origine de ce paysage époustouflant, j’avais l’impression que c’était quelque part en Amérique du Sud... Çà doit être à cause de la végétation luxuriente, ou ces rochers imposants... Vraiment, une image magnifique. Bravo!

Hi Christian,
Very nice image! I like your composition with all those diagonals: the city, the river, the sunrays. The light is beautiful, adding atmosphere to the picture. Last year I've been measuring at the ILL institute (the white reactor at the right, near the white circle, which is the particle accelerator).

A grand view made even better by this awesome lighting. The exposure is perfect and the sideways streaking light has created some magnificent contrasts. Perfectly composed as well. This is one of those photos I could look at for 10 minutes. There is just so much to see. Great one.

Wow! Amazing capture. This is a landscape shot in all its glory, scale of the mountains against the city, the light is fantastic and you have captured it all perfectly.

Excellent scene of these stormy couds and landscape. I paricularly like the lighting on the mountain side and that white rocky section. Well captured.

Strking light, looks like a large flashlight shining in to the valley, wonderful.
Your pov is really excellent, and you were very lucky with the weather, look at those clouds..huge, but beautiful.
The sunlight on that big rock is really stealing the show here...impressive.

Hello Christian,
You would have had a good photo even without the light rays in it, but the rays really add another dimension to your photo. The light really shows the form and the details of the rock formation and it looks three dimensional. I have never seen a rock formation quite like this. Another great photo of yours!

la vignette me rappelait quelque chose !!
tres content d' avoir pu enfin te rencontrer en famille et qu'à cette occasion la lumiere sur mon perchoir soit aussi sympa. ces week-end pluvieux nous reservent parfois de bien jolis spots et lorsque le soleil perse enfin cette couche metallique, la lumiere explose et les couleurs saturent !
encore faut il savoir la capturer, et c'est chose faite parfaitement ici !!
aujourd'hui, même ciel bas, mais pas la moindre trouée !!!

On reconnait la vue depuis le "bureau" d'Alain...C'est vrai que son perchoir permet de bien belles images surtout quand la lumière s'en mêle.Bel hommage au maître (des lieux et de la photo...)

Etrange et magnifique rayon de soleil sur le rocher.
Un joli panorama sur cette ville où il n'y a pas besoin de faire des centaines de km pour trouver un sujet intéressant.

Tres belle compo en diagonale qui joue si bien avec la lumiere qui vient elle meme en diagonale bien qu'avec un angle legerement different. Cette grosse masse rocheuse si magnifiquement eclairee en dessous de ce ciel aux nuages si fluffy et si gris est splendide. La ville elle-meme avec la lumiere rend magnifiquent. Superbe.

Bonjour Christian, comme quoi c‘est lors des pires conditions météo, et si le mauvais temps veut bien disparaître un p’tit moment que l’on fait de ces images qui retienne l’attention, je passe beaucoup de temps sous un ciel bleu parce qu‘il faut bien publier une photo de temps à autre, mais les conditions idéale ne délivres que des images certes belle, mais insipide et mille fois vue je recherche souvent une météo capricieuse, mais la chance de combiné trouée lumineuse avec la lumière féerique voire céleste plus un bon sujet est mince, alors que la, et j’en ai encore une foi la preuve en image, ce formidable cliché intéressant par son ambiance particulière retient toute notre attention,
et c’est formidable pour toi que cette belle rencontre entre pote ce soit concrétisés par cette vue qui scelle et renforce l’amitié par un tel souvenir que vous aurez désormais en commun, bien amicalement ……….. Et quoi tu n’est pas encore en Guadeloupe?

Très belle prise de la capitale des Alpes.
La vallée dans le sombre, avec le synchrotron, contraste merveilleusement avec la falaise éclairée, c'est vraiment très beau.

Quelle magnifique pov et quelle lumière.Tout est dans l'art de capturer la lumière en photographie et tu as su admirablement le faire.

Christian, I'm starting to appreciate bad weather more and more and I think that this image gives the right example way. This dark clouds and partial almost horizontal light gives so much drama and interest to the composition. That looks much better than a blue sky enhanced by a polarizer. I guess you did this on HDR? At least it looks like it. The light conditions are exceptionally well balanced.

Hello Christian,
Clarity is amazing here. Wonderful light and colors. The diagonal spread of the city and the grey clouds are nice visual elements in this fine composition. I would probably crop the bottom to get rid of the branches in the lower left corner, but that's a personal preference. Regards,
