Photographer’s Note

A small blue hour shot of the hospital of the Hôtel-Dieu dug out from my archives. This hospital is composed of buildings constructed in the seventeenth and nineteenth century, the foundation dating back to the sixth century. François Rabelais practiced as a doctor of the hospital from 1532 to 1534.
The modernization plan will lead to a suspension of any activity on the site of the Hôtel-Dieu in 2011.
It appears that historic buildings might be converted into shops, and luxury hotel accommodations, but no official decision has yet been made.
