Photographer's Note

A few weeks ago I was in Les Houches for a workshop, but we were lucky to have some time for skiing as well :-) When you stayed high enough, it was wonderful with all the fresh snow and beautiful views, otherwise it was difficult to find the way in the thick clouds.

The summits from left to right: Aiguille Verte (4122m), Les Aiguilles de Chamonix, Aiguille du Midi (3842m), and the Mont-Blanc du Tacul (4248m). The Mont-Blanc itself is just outside the image, and was hidden behind the clouds.

PP: Levels slightly adjusted, resized and sharpened, and frame added. And, (more seriously ;-) ) in order to increase contrast, I changed the skier's jacket from blue to red. Everything with GIMP.

Hello Lia,

This is a genuinely beautiful photograph, from conception to implementation. The composition is exquisite and the colors and resolution flawless. The precise location in the frame of the skier, and the backdrop of the clouds, and beyond that the curtain of mountains all collaborate like the instruments of a symphony orchestra. Well done!

The human figure is just in the right place to show how small we are compared to nature.

Hello Lia,
An unusual mountain view, half framed by the incomoing clouds. The skier in the freground adds depth and scale.

How I'd love to be that person skiing over there!
Great idea to place him/her in this photograph so we can have a very good sense of the dimension of those mountains!
Sharpness, exposure, pov, dof, colors and composition are all outstanding features here!
