It is not a typical Provence shot because it looks very cold and rainy. But anyway it has its mood overall with the positions of the different characters. But to me you need to focus more on your subject because there is too much sea and sky.

Je vois que tu fais des études de français, alors je t'écris en français !

Une jolie photo de Provence, pas très commun de la voir comme cela sous les nuages. Avec ton choix de noir et blanc, cela donne encore plus l'impression de froid, même si c'était en plein mois d'aout !

Je suis d'accord avec David, il y a un peu trop de ciel à mon gout, j'aurais plutot coupé juste au dessus du mât du bateau.

An excellent photograph, Katie. It takes a while for the surprise to register, and when it does it is delightful. Very good black and white tonal range. Beautiful composition. Some would say just a moment before would have caught the boy better, but I think this is better because of the splash. You have been criticized for leaving too much sky and water in the compostion. I disagree. THe sky and the water provide essential mood elements that if eliminated would merely make this a technical photo of a boy jumping into water. I like this exactly as it is. Great photo.
