Tarascon is noted for its massive château-fort, which stands right on the banks of the Rhône opposite the Château de Beaucaire. The construction of the current castle of was started in 1401 by Louis II of Anjou, after the previous castle was destroyed. The construction was continued by his first son, Louis III of Anjou, and was completed in 1449 by his second son, René I of Naples. The castle is often referred to as le château du roi René ("King René's castle").

Very fine capture along the river. The castle is surely impressive, it looks unconquerable. Well taken, enjoy a fine day.

Agree with Daniel, the castle has a really interesting and unique architecture and has been well captured at this shot. Natural tone and lights gave a nice results. What a pity we are not able to see more of the church covered by the trees:(
Well done and TFS!

Un château massif à l'architecture particulière et intéressante avec en prime le clocher dentelé qui s'élève au milieu d'un buisson de verdure.

A well fortified château, Stephen, dominating the view along the river, and the church's turret seems as "rising" from the green forest.
Fine chosen an askewed angel, and divided pic. space adequately.
Impressive the balcony around the château roof, without this - it would look as just a concrete-built big warehouse.
Enjoy the rest of sunday,

Bonjour, cher Stephen,
Ce château fort mérite véritablement son nom, il semble imprenable tant la construction est imposante.
Une image de qualité à tous points de vue.
Merci pour la note d'accompagnement.

the imposing Chateau does appear to be impregnable although I`m not too sure how well lit some of the rooms would be!
The church spire rising above the trees helps to give the image a nice balance.
Best regards Les.

simple view but looking effective due to your chosen angular POV. Like the top of the tower at right. Nice use of dichinal. A nice one. Tfs.

That is one strong looking building, very imposing as it stands on the river like this, and presenting a beautiful opportunity for a great photo. The lead of the river is superb, especially with the lush greenery and the spire poking through the trees. Really great catch, thanks for sharing.
All the best

una bella fortezza, da l'impressione di essere impenetrabile.
Ricordo quando ho visitato questo luogo, ma sono passati molti anni.
Bella composizione, le due architetture sbucano fuori tra il verde degli alberi e il blu del cielo.

The diagonal riverbank adds dynamism as well as superb lead in lines and perspective. Good sharpness and nice impressionist reflections in the water. The warmer pale yellow reddish colors of the steeple and the chateau contrast well against the cooler hues of the blue sky. Good density and composition. Tfs!

I love how you've used the perspective of the bank to lead us to this unique and strange castle and also how, after we've reached it, our attention splits between the castle and the spire emerging from the greenery on the right. The bright light is clear and pleasant, the natural colours are lovely. There's a very nice contrast between the bright structures and the relaxing blues and greens. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
