Photographer's Note

The Queen of Spain Fritillary (Issoria lathonia) is a butterfly of the family Nymphalidae. It occurs throughout the Palaearctic from North Africa to Japan (Bretherton, 1990). It is distinctly migratory in Western Europe, in Central and South Europe - all Italy, reaching almost as far north as the Arctic Circle; however, it is resident in southern Sweden and Finland, and on the coastal sand dunes of the Netherlands (Bretherton, 1990). A map of its distribution is given at Lepidoptera and some other life forms. The adult is a strong flyer, and may be found anywhere but forests. Flight time is between March and October, size is between 38 mm and 46 mm, and is usually found at altitudes between sea level and 2700 m.

Ma sei impazzito,vuoi rubare il mestiere a me e a Silvio? Una delle mie farfalle preferite che su treknature ho postato molte volte,anche perche' nei miei campi abbonda ed e' una delle piu' amichevoli con i fotografi.Una foto che fa sfracelli,dettagli meravigliosi ed i colori della lavanda che contrastano al meglio l'arancione della lathonia.10 e lode,un grande regalo per i fans! The colours do the job Valter! The beauty of the butterfly's colour and markings is emphasised thanks to the purple lavender which is a perfect contrast. A fine shot. Warm regards rosemary

Excellent macro-closeup image of what can be a difficult subject to capture, I have yet to try.. A beautiful b'fly well captured - the details and colors are fantastic and well framed, sharp focus in natural colors. Pin sharp that looks great against the soft natural background with amazing contrasting colors. Great cool shot with the right treatment, Excellent notes too. Congrats

non sono un appassionato di farfalle, mi limito a guardarle con ammirazione quando le vedo, qui ci sono esperti che hanno già espresso il loro giudizio.
In ogni caso posso sempre dire che la foto è splendida, i bellissimi colori della farfalla si contrappongono a quelli della lavanda in modo perfetto, la qualità è eccellente, mi piacciono molto anche le linee prodotte dalla lavanda in sottofondo, la loro inclinazione è piacevole alla vista.

Wow this butterfly is perfectly sharp. I think this is smaller than the butterfly that I recently posted so very well done for getting such incredible detail. The BG is very attractive with the diagonal stalks of lavender. Excellent shallow DOF so that the BG doesn't detract from the butterfly.

Stupenda! Non lo so se o la lavanda o la farfalla é la piú bella, ma insieme, sono una coppia formidabile. Come ti ho detto prima, non sono un'esperta delle farfalle, sono una genera di fotografia molto difficultoso. Ma qui, stai diventando il maestro della genera. Quando il re e principe della genera, Silvio e Luciano. dati i suoi complimenti, devi capire che é vero. La nitidezza, la resa cromatica e la profunditá di campo sono al top. Complimenti, semplicemente bella.
