Fontvieille is a French commune located in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône and the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Its inhabitants, of which there were 3594 in 2009, are called Fontvieillois. There is evidence of human occupation in the area dating back over 4000 years. The commune was founded in 1790 from an area formerly belonging to the city of Arles.
Located near Arles in the southwest of the Alpilles massif and north of La Crau, it is a town that makes its living mainly from agriculture, including wine production, and especially tourism. Indeed, for a town of its size there are an inordinate number of hotels and restaurants.

Good Morning Stephen,
This is interesting for its close, sharp details. You want to ask yourself, as on the tv programme, 'And who lives in a house like this?'
The light and the shadows contribute much to the lovely effect. A very well composed corner of France.
Have a lovely day,

what a delightful little corner this. So much thought has gone into this entrance and it just adds to the character of this beautiful old building. Wonderful and an original posting too!

a nice composition with the building at the corner of the road. Light is managed superbly. Beautiful combination of colours in the frame. A nice one. Tfs...

4000 years! yikes! wow...
I always laugh a little when we see such old places, yet with modern touches....for example the sattelite dish on the rooftop!! Priceless
and i notice along the bottom....is that some sort of 'offering'?
if you look closely, there are many interesting smaller elements making up this entire scene.

This is a very extraordinarily lovely corner of the village with the small doors but also the nice decorative iron flower balcony
Sharpness and clarity are pleasant to look at.
Nice composition, excellent presentation.
Very well done, TFS.

Effective tight framing with good control over perspective. I see no lens barrel distortion. Excellent sharpness and good density and contrasted lighting. The little pagoda in the shaded fg garden adds interest. Wonderful colour and saturation. Tfs!

I guess it's safe to say that tourism pretty much drives everything these days!? No matter how small a town, almost seems inevitable there will be more than ample hotels, restaurants and shops for those to spend money on while visiting. A terrific isolated building you've composed, I really like how much there is to scan over in this tight composition. A great way to present all of the elements and detail! Also fun is the hint of the adjacent street, leaving my mind to wonder what lies around the corner. :) Bright, balanced and charming. Bien fait! Bonne journee.

a beautiful house on the corner of the village, picturesque and solid, decorated with care and good humour. You've brought it very close to the viewer with a tight and precise framing that makes it the only protagonist of the photo. The play of shadows is very nice, the light and the colours have a very agreeable naturalness. It's great to see how the life of this building continues through the centuries, the coat of arms coexisting with the satellite dish. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,
