A tourist gazes at the remains of the Roman Theatre in the city of Arles. Although, there is a not great deal left standing of the Roman architecture, the site is still used for outdoor concerts during the summer season. The site backs onto Le Jardin d'Été (Summer Garden), a picture of which I posted at the beginning of this little series featuring the lovely city of Arles.
Arles is a city and commune in the south of France, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, of which it is a subprefecture. It is located in the former province of Provence.

bello scorcio animato dai turisti.

I remember this place in Arles, too - Indeed, Romans monuments look dignified!
Beautiful shot presenting roman monuments!
Have a nice new week!

Good morning Stephen,
Old Roman ruins is so close to the old-town houses, the local people really live within.
Fine photo taken on a street level, under superb light condition, and with good DOF with clarity.
made the right choice to include the edifice on right side, gave extra dimension to the whole.

Very nice scene of these ruins, with the tourist gazing in giving life to the scene. Te light and point of view are perfect for this subject. And at the risk of sounding like the worlds most common comedy cliche, your title instantly made me think of the classic monthy python, what did the Romans ever do for us scene. I would lose to go exploring in those streets, you've made it look very inviting.
All the best

never think of Roman influences in France but obviously they are all around and this looks wonderful. A great POV that gives us a great idea of the setting and beauty of this old theatre in amongst the other architectural heritage of this fine city.
Have a good week - Brian.

the scenery and atmosphere you are presenting in this lovely picture reminds me strongly of a well known and much visited part of district Plaka in Athens. The strong light is the same too:) I like very much the layout and depth of your composition, the clarity of details and textures, the natural colours and the discreet presence of people. I love how the visitor standing alone on the left relates to the archeological site drawing our attention to it too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
