Photographer’s Note

The Garonne River passes underneath the 17th-century Pont-Neuf (New Bridge), Toulouse's oldest standing bridge. My this year's Touluse photos start from the rails of the Pont Neuf. In front you see the building of Hotel-Dieu Saint Jacques. An arch from the former older bridge is projecting from it's middle. It was called Pont de la Daurade (Bridge of the Goldfish). Who's that Goldfish?, I asked. Daurade was Saint-Marie la Daurade. There was an early christian church with that name from before the 5th century. And who's that Mary the Goldfish? I asked. Oh, most probably that was Mary Magdalene, who landed on South France shore after she flew from Palestine...
