Mirepoix is a town and commune in the Ariège department in southwestern France. It lies in the Hers valley between Carcassonne and Pamiers.
Its inhabitants, who are called Mirapiciens, numbered 3123 in 2008.
The centre of Mirepoix is built around the place de Couverts, a pleasant place to wander on a sunny afternoon and stop for a quiet drink. It has a number of interesting old buildings to attract the attention of the photographer. One of the main attractions is the 14th century Maison des Consuls. The overhanging arcades of this building have exposed beams and on these there are approximately 150 individually carved wooden heads in various states of preservation.
Just off the centre is located the cathedral of St-Maurice, built in the Gothic style, and notable for its particularly wide nave.

Good Morning Stephen,
Such a charming French scene, the lady feeding the birds, quite unaware of her focal role.
The two trees help to move the viewer into the distance, providing, also, a sense of perspective. Again, we can see those wonderful timbered buildings.
I was very interested in the spire. I photographed a church at Silphiac, in Brittany, which had a similarly decorated spire. I must post it for your interest.
Have a lovely day,

Le cadrage est excellent. La dame qui nourrit les pigeons est parfaitement placée dans l'image et l'arrière plan avec ces maisons à colombages est superbe.

Wonderful city view!
A beautiful half-timbered houses in the foreground and an interesting tower in the background. Good POV and composition, nice colors and good sharpness.

I hate to keep using the phrase Fairy Tale, but its hard to resist here, those buildings are bright colorful, unusual and at really jaunty angles. TO add to that, the woman feeding them looks herself like she could be the mum of Hansel and Gretel! Colors are as always so vibrant and appealing.
All the best

Good evening Stephen,
Nice added the lady feeding the pigeons as a main subject to the scene. Green trees and lawn in fine contrast to the wooden old houses.
Nice town daily life scene.
Enjoy your weekend,

L'étendue de la place donne de la profondeur à l'image. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs des immeubles. La bonne luminosité fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne soirée.

Good afternoon Stephen,
A relaxing scene in the piazza or whatever its called in France. The pigeons animate the scene and provide a fg focal point. I like the colourful shop window colors of red and cyan contrasting against a pale cream yellow bg. Good sharpness and framing. Not much you could do about the uninteresting sky and a crop is out of the question with the steeple imho. Tfs!
