This picture shows the facade of two churches in Lourdes, at the location where an apparition of Our Lady occurred in 1858. The one with a single spire is the Upper Basilica, it was constructed between 1866 and 1872, its sanctuary can accommodate 500 worshipers. Its altar is directly over the place of the apparition. In front of it below is the Basilica of the Rosary, it was built between 1883 and 1899 in Neo-Byzantine style with a capacity for 1500 worshipers. The large gilded crown on the top of its dome, a gift from the People of Ireland, was installed in 1924. Previously I posted a picture of a panoramic view of Lourdes , it shows the relative position of these churches better.

This is a beautiful building you have composed well.It stands out well against the cloudy sky.A pity it is quite dark on the left side, but it has been handled

The sky and the light was on your side to make a good presentation of those churches. The place is crowdy and this adds life. The steeples stand very well over the sky and the architectural details are well rendered.

Now I understand how this is two churches, thanks for the link! Without the other, I thought this was just one, but with a most unusual design.
I love the three spires against that sky. Its so cool to see this church at last, my first time. That's probably strange too, as tours to Lourdes are so popular from Ireland. Great share, thanks
All the best
