Belcastel 120024 12390

Beautiful residence.
One sight.
Other sight.
Beautiful castle, 11th century, of the village of Belcastel in Aveyron.
The castle of BELCASTEL of the 11th century, built on a rock peak, after its chapel of the 9th century, overhangs Aveyron river and a splendid village, classified among most beautiful village of France.
The exact significance of Belcastel is not certain: beautiful castle or large castle.
It is known that “Bel” meant large in occitan or "langue d'oc" in Southern France, and warrior in "langue d'oïl" in Northern France.
The architect Fernand Pouillon, one of the craftsmen of the recontruction after the Second world war in France, restored the castle given up at the 16th century, in the respect of the site, during 8 years, of 1975 to 1982, before remaining there.
Fernand Pouillon, was born on May 14th, 1912 in Cancon in the department from the Lot-et-Garonne, and is deceased on July 24th, 1986 with the castle of Belcastel.
TThe castle is currently the property of Heidi Leigh & Nick Leone, American owners of art galleries in New York and in other places.
Aveyron is a river which takes its source on causse of Séverac-the-Castle in the department of Aveyron and is thrown after 292 km of course, in the Tarn between Lafrançaise and Villemade in Tarn-et-Garonne.
Belcastel is a french commune, located in the department of Aveyron of the Midi-Pyrénees area, populated of 251 Belcastélois in 1999, distributed out of 11 km², that is to say 23 hab./km².
In the village one can see the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church of 15th century, sheltering the tomb of Alzias de Saunhac died in 1448, baron de Belcastel, and already restorer of the castle at the 15th century.

Hello Joël,
A fine composition of this imposing fortress surrounded by greenery. Very pleasing colour contrasts; a good idea to include the strip of blue sky. Good clarity.

Hallo Joel!
You show us a truly impressive castle here - from an excellent point of view. Its situation really is beautiful and its shape rather uncommon - and interesting. Good to know that it is still in use. A contribution in terms of TE!
Greetings from Germany!

Joel,
This is a great shot of this fine castle. The trees frame the scene nicely focusing our attention of the main subject. The angle of the shot gives the scene nice depth and shows more detail. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

Bon weekend.
