Photographer’s Note

A street in old Albi where, as you can see, brick and tile reign supreme.

Albi was built around the cathedral of Saint-Cecile and the Bishop's Palace, both of which are brick built, the cathedral being claimed as the largest brick built building in the world. The historic area covers some 63 hectares with red brick and tiles being the main architectural features.

Along with Toulouse and Montauban, Albi is one of the main cities in France built in so-called Languedoc-style brick .

Hope you like this view of a street close to the cathedral taken on a rainy day with not many people about.
