This photograph is a composite of three shots. The view is that of the walk and almost at the tower.
This imposing fortress is undoubtedly an expression of temporal and spiritual power of the bishops of Albi who built. The height and thickness of the walls attest to its defensive and deterrent. Over the centuries, various modifications have transformed it into a real pleasure palace.
Initially, the building is organized around a particular feudal room adjoining the Saint-Michel tower for the court and the ecclesiastical prisons. The defensive aspect is reinforced fortifications and building a new tower, the Mage Tower, huge tower fifty feet high, flanked by four corner towers.
In the seventeenth century, the fortifications will fall: a gate opens on to the city dock Choiseul down to the old bridge. Galleries, large lounges, a library, terraces will complement the whole. A French garden, dominated by a walkway, will replace the parade.

A splendid capture of these classical French gardens with the Bishop's Place making a wonderful backdrop. Light and colours are superb and the detailing excellent. Fine stitch-work.

Hi Jean Philippe,
Beautiful palace. And very imposing, especially in how you composed the scene to include the gardens, as the palace soars above it. It certainly does look like a stronghold too, I guess those of wealth always wanted to keep it that way. Beautiful light and the sky is a perfect backdrop. I really like that you included the tree in the upper left too, it makes me feel like I am spying on this place. Great post, thanks again.

Bonjour Jean Phillipe,

Hello Jean Philippe,
A nice bright image with lovely saturated colours and great clarity and contrasts. The three shots are seamlessly put together and allow for a beautiful wide overview of the scene despite being so tight and close to the main subject.

Salute, Jean Philippe!
I like your clever idea to place this green branch as a frame of the castle. Good balance and excellent support for green garden. Perfect DoF, outstanding sharpness. It seems we can count every brick of the tower! My compliments!

J'aime beaucoup ce mélange verdure et pierre.
La prise donne l'impression que le bâtiment penche.
Le commentaire est intéressant.
Si le temps vous le permet le Musée Toulouse-lautrec à un pas mérite la visite
